I was dying.
I lay there, my breaths quiet and drowsy, as I stared at the glistening stars. My eyes were squinted as my body rested on the dead grass. Dying felt relieving. I was escaping the torn life that was now my reality. As my eyes began to close, I remember only being able to dream of this free feeling in my past.
I've finally escaped.
