Chapter 12

Mr. Gallows handed Teagen a pile of clothes, an identification pass and a pair of boots.
"Here are your new clothes. They will properly display you as the future of technology. This pass will help you enter different parts of the building and identify you."
He piled the clothes in her arms and put the pass on the top of the pile.
"You may go and change in the restroom. Return here when you are done."
Teagen walked out of the office, passed the elevator and down the hall. She entered and went into one of the stalls. She took off her old clothes and put them on the floor. Teagen slipped into the gray top. It had a deep blue bow around the collar and thick sleeves. She then slipped on the navy blue skirt. Teagen took off her flats and put on the black combat boots. She then put the pass into her pocket. Teagen walked out of the stall and looked into the large mirror.
It's not bad. Teagen thought as
she brushed her hair behind her ears and then exited the restroom. She kept her necklace under her shirt; she needed the luck.
Teagen took her old clothes with her and returned to the office.
"You look wonderful Teagen." Mr. Gallows said. "Now that this was done we can move on to living arrangements. I will show you your room. Here follow me."
He led her to the elevator. They both got in and Mr. Gallows pressed the button for the top floor.
They rode the elevator in silence. Finally they reached the top floor. The silver doors slid open revealing a long hall. There were doors with a series of numbers on each. They walked down the hall and stopped at a door. It read the numbers 7849.
"This will be your room." he said.  "Be sure to remember the number."
"What are in the other rooms?" Teagen asked.
"Those are empty. Nothing to see inside." he said. "Now to open your door, hold the pass up to the screen."
Teagen did as Mr. Gallows said. A little beep sounded as the sliding door to her room opened. There was a circular white table in the middle of the room with a light blue vase in the center of it. The vase held purple flowers which gave the room a sweet smell. There was also a large window with sheer grey curtains.
"This room can only be opened by your pass and if you are needed, you will be called upon from this intercom." Mr. Gallows said pointing to the small touch screen on the wall beside the door.
Teagen walked into the next room which branched off on the right side of the living room. There was a small window and a queen sized bed which was against the wall. It had pristine white sheets with grey stripped throw pillows.
"Well, I guess that is everything. Your bathroom is over there." he said gesturing to the door on the left side of the living room. "Food will be provided for you every day in the cafeteria. And I think that just about sums it up."
"May I see my father now?" Teagen asked.
"Yes you may. We have some important work to discuss with your father. Follow me." Mr. Gallows said as he exited Teagen's new home.
"This is going to be some important work indeed." he repeated.
