Chapter Two
Undercover
I ended up staying with the William's family. They were such nice people. They have a daughter who is my age. Her name is Maddie. She was about 5'5, which is taller than my 5'3. Her hair was a golden brown color that flowed in waves down her back. She had sea green eyes with light blue speckles in them. Her face was oval. She had a small, but slightly pointed nose.
The father is the only one who knows my secret. Maddie or her mother knows nothing. They think that I am from Mr. Keith's side. The story is, I am a long lost cousin who has to stay with the William's family for a month or so. It just depends on how quick my family gets stuff straightened out up there.
I lay on my back and sighed. This family is so nice. I hate lying to Mrs. Lynn and Maddie. I heard a knock at my door. "Come in." I kept my voice low, trying to hide my accent.
I heard light footsteps against the hardwood. "Sophie?" Maddie's sweet voice said.
I threw my phone up in the air, catching it as it came back down. "Hmm?" I hummed out.
I have to get used to that name. Ugh! "Is everything okay?" I felt the bed dip beside me.
I looked over to her. She had a concerned look on her face. "Yeah. I'm just trying to get used to here." I mumbled.
I saw her pout for a second before lighting up. That was her 'I have an idea' face. "My friends invited me out. Let's go!" She grabbed my hand and yanked me up.
My feet hit the ground with a thud. She just smiled proudly at me. I groaned and grabbed my things. It was currently summer, so I had a pair of jean shorts and tank top on. I followed her out of the house. We got into her BMW and drove. I had no idea where we were currently headed. "So, you are my cousin?" She asked.
I looked over to her. "Yeah. It looks that way." I bit at my lip and turned my attention to the front again.
"You know I'm glad to have a cousin who's a girl and my age." She had a smile to her voice. I looked over to her. She had a very happy look on her face.
I was actually happy to talk to someone my age. I let a smile appear on my full lips. "Actually Maddie, I am too."
She smiled and turned her attention back to the road. I finally felt the car stop. I looked around to see that we were at a dinner. This dinner had many teenagers around. I felt my palms begin to get sweaty. I have not been around people my age in quite a long time.
"Are you coming?" She asked, causing my panic to halt.
I sighed and got out. "Pokkers." (Damn) I muttered as I got out.
She looked at me funny. Crap, I just swore in Danish. I gnawed at my lip. "I know some Danish." I said quietly.
She eyed me suspiciously, but shook it off. I brushed down my clothes and followed her. People were staring at me. I hate being the center of attention, but being a Princess and Future Queen you get plenty of unwanted attention.
