There is always something about summer that makes life more fun, that creates a beautiful place to be happy. Every Summer my family sends me to a different beach in a different country. They claim that they want me to be cultured when I know it is because they want the summer to themselves.
My name is Alyce Montgomery and I am eighteen years old. I finally graduated high school and after this summer in Australia I am moving to Seattle, Washington to start the life of my dreams.
I smile as the plane finally comes to a stop in Sydney. Coming from a family of money has its advantages. Like having a beach house to myself for three months. I stand up and collect my carry-on bags. The rest of the things that I packed for this trip are already at the house. My parents always have everything taken care of for me. It almost makes me sad that I am going to be starting a life without them soon. But I know that it is only for the best.
I take my things out to the taxi waiting for me outside of the airport and give him my address, thankful that I didn't pick a country that speaks another language. I relax in the back seat and wonder how this summer was going to turn out.
Every summer I always stay inside and read, blocking out the world and just relaxing. For some reason I just do not want to do that again this summer. I want to have fun and make the best memories that I possibly can before I leave. I want this summer to be different.
As the taxi pulls to a stop I jump out and rush inside to get away from the sun against my skin. I may have dark hair, but my skin and eyes are light and sensitive. I throw my bags into the closest room and turn my phone on.
Where do I start?
I throw my clothes everywhere in search of my bathing suit and something cute to wear over it. There are so many places to start, but I always scope out the beach before anything else. I find my soft blue bikini and throw on a pair of black cutoff shorts and a white tank top. I slip on some flip flops and rush towards the back door in excitement. This summer is going to be different. I can just tell.
After my feet hit the sand, I can't help but ogle all of the guys. They were everywhere, doing everything. Surfing, volleyball, football, soccer. I contemplate what to do first when I feel a sharp pain from the back of my head. What the hell?
I quickly turn around only to see the most beautiful creature I have ever had the pleasure to lay eyes on. His hair is dark, his skin is tan, and his eyes are sinfully blue. I bite my lip and glance down at the source of my pain. A soccer ball.
"I am so sorry, mate. I was only trying to get your attention, not hurt you." He says. My knees buckle at the sound of his voice and I can't help but feel nervous. The butterflies in my stomach were keeping me from sane thoughts. But his accent!!!
"What is your name, beautiful?" He asks, winking at me. If my knees weren't locked I definitely would have fallen. Okay, Alyce, play it cool.
"Alyce." I say awkwardly. How lame! I should have said more than that! What is wrong with me?
The guy smiles and steps closer to me. My heart. He can totally hear it racing can't he? How embarrassing! I take a deep breath and look up at him. What do I do? What do I say?
"My name is Alexander. You should come play soccer with us." He flashes me the whitest smile and my breath catches in my throat. He has dimples. Both of his cheeks have the perfect indents when he smiles. He should never stop smiling.
"I-I don't know how to play soccer." Alexander grins even wider and grabs my hand.
"I guess I am just going to have to teach you. Aren't I"
