     10K had been watching this rugged group for a while now, mostly focusing his sights on the old guy tooling around the vehicles.  He just couldn't stop staring that that magnificent beard.

     All of a sudden, as he caught himself staring, the man was attacked by a zombie, and 10K noticed the struggle the guy was having trying to get the zombie off. As soon as he'd gotten a clear shot, he blew a 3 in wide hole through the Zombies head, and it dropped to the ground. The man he would soon know as Doc looked up, noticing 10K on the roof, and the boy got up and bolted away, now embarrassed.

                                                                                ~~~~~~~~~~~
     10K thought back to the previous events of the day as he walked, hauling his rifle across his back and a small bag with limited food and water.  He was just leaving the compound, the same high school/compound where he'd shot a hole through a Z's head to save the old man.  He paid no attention to his face, because his beard still intrigued him greatly.
    After a while, as 10K eventually made his way down the hill and to the street, he noticed out of his peripheral vision a large black truck zooming down the road, but he couldn't tell who was driving it just yet.  He turned to the left and began walking in the same direction as the truck, and soon heard the voice of the man behind the wheel.
     "Hey, there! You're that sharpshooter that saved my ass, aren't you?"
     10K halted as he heard the truck stop and turned to see the face that belonged to the old, scraggly voice he'd heard.  As soon as he'd caught eye of the old man, he tried to hide his shock at the magnificence of the grey beard adorned by this handsome man.
     Many thoughts ran through 10K's head during that split-second first impression.  Thoughts like, 'That beard. I want to feel it on my face.' or 'Those rough hands, gripping the steering wheel tight, I want them to hold me close and never let go.' or even 'Why does he smell so bad of weed?'  These and many more were the lustful thoughts running through the young mans head as he stared straight into the shimmering hazel eyes of the man he would soon grow to love.
     "I want to thank you. Do you need a ride?" Doc asked as he looked the kid up and down.
     10K shrugged, hiding a hint of a smile, hopped in the back, and smacked the side of the truck a couple times to signal them to move.  Little did he know, that that little encounter would spark a chain reaction of events, leading to a life worth living, spent with old man Doc.
