"Kade! Hey, Kade! Wait up!" I yelled as I chased after him down the vacant hallway of our school, West Side High. Kade had been obviously outright ignoring me for the last week and I demanded to know why. What did I do wrong? Nothing that I could think of.
He continued to ignore me as he swiftly fast walked in the opposite direction of me, running away.
"Ugh! Kaden Michael Hart! I swear to God, if you do not stop this instant..." I trailed off, leaving a threat - a threat that everybody knows I would not pull through with. I was harmless.
He began to slow down now, though, and then finally, he came to a halt. He didn't turn his body around though. He continued to face the other way, his back towards me.
"Did I do something wrong, Kadey Bear?" I asked him, my face contorting into a pout that if he were to be looking at right now, he for sure wouldn't be able to bear.
"Don't call me that," he snapped at me. His hands were clenched into fists, his knuckles showing white.
"W-what do you mean? I've always called you that..." I trailed off, confused as to why he was acting like this.
"Well stop. It's annoying," he told me harshly. He sounded as if he was also clenching his teeth.
"Uhm, okay?"
"Don't call me that. Ever again. Actually, no. Don't call me ever again. Don't even talk to me," he told me, as he finally began to turn around to look at me. Only he wouldn't look at me, of course. I refused to look me in the eyes.
This wasn't my Kadey Bear anymore. Who was this? He looked just like the same old Kaden Michael Hart, but he sure didn't sound or act like him. He seemed different. Why could he be acting like this? What's changed him so drastically, so quickly?
I could barely breathe. Kade was my best -and only- friend in this school.
"W-what?" I could barely manage to say to him. My forehead crinkled in confusion.
" I said, don't talk to me anymore. Were done. Were no longer friends. I've only strung you along this whole time because I felt bad for you. Nothing more than that. But Im sick of it now. So just leave me the hell alone. Don't come to my house, don't call me, don't talk to me in school. Stay our of my life. I don't ever want to hear your voice again," he gritted out harshly from between his teeth. And with that, he spun on his heel and began to walk away. Not once did he look back. And I felt as if my heart was shattering into a million pieces.
