Ethan POV

The next morning

I open my eyes to the sun and blink quickly. I look to my left, and find the side of the bed empty.

“Avery?” I call out.

“In here,” She calls back, as she walks out of the bathroom, pulling a shirt down over her chest and stomach.

“Oh, sorry,” I say, turning away.

“Its fine, nothing really there,” She says, lifting her shirt up just over her stomach, to reveal faded scars and pink scratches on her hipbones. She drops her hands and her shirt as I get up, running my hands through my hair. I cross the room to her, and gently touch the hem of her shirt.

“May I?” I ask quietly, lifting the shirt just over the scars. She says nothing, just averts her eyes and drops her gaze. I run my thumbs over them while holding onto her tiny waist. Sickeningly, I missed the feeling of fresh cuts and scars.

“Oh, Avery,” I whisper.

“I’m sorry,” She barely speaks.

“Shh,” I say, as I back away from her. I drop my pants and lift my boxers up to reveal mine. I rub my hands on them, shivering. She presses a kiss to her hand before pressing it to my upper thigh.

“Ethan-” She starts.

“Don’t, I know,” I say, as I look back at them. Some of the darkened scars are still too fresh in my memories. I run my finger over one, one thats too straight, and has stich marks running parallel to it. I pull up my pants, and turn away, searching my bag for clean clothes. Avery walks up behind me while I hold up as shirt, and she wraps her arms around my waist. I pick her hands up off my waist and I spin around. I pull her into a hug, pressing her close to my chest, and I kiss the top of her head.

“We’ll be okay,” I say.

“Okay,” She whispers, hugging me tighter.

“Meds and fed?” I say a moment later, pulling away.

“English?” She asks.

“Pills and food?” I repeat.

“Oh, yeah,” She smiles.

I change quickly and we leave the room, and line up for pills, and then head for breakfast in the lunch room.

The rest of the day goes as normally planned, with therapy, cards, and cuddling for most of the day. I pulled her into bed with me for the second night in a row, pressing small kisses on her cheek and lips before holding her until she fell asleep.

Short filler, I know, but good things are to come, bear with me you guys!
