I do not wish to remember anymore. I’m about to take my last voyage, a great leap into the dark, but not before one last thing. A memento of the place I will die, before I become never and never.
I build it on the beach, the place I have chosen to end it all, from insignificant grains of sand. Up and up it goes the finer detail finding themselves somehow in my numb fingers; a castle of sand where my soul shall reside, neither in heaven nor hell, but trapped in utter nothingness. Soon it is finished and I see a small spider crawl across the grains and halt. It seems right, like a little guardian and I stand there caught for a moment on what to do next.
So ever so slowly I turn, turn towards the water, its dark waters endless like a black abyss, an abyss of nothingness, perfect. It’s just one foot in front of the other, from the sand to the frigid water, but I hardly feel it. Each step and I go deeper letting the numbness consume me, but as if the hungry black water couldn’t wait a wave breaks and I feel myself being dragged, until my head disappears under water. All around me is darkness, perfect.
But then it stopped and it feels like treads are being wrapped around my limbs, under me and then I’m free, but no longer surrounded in my black abyss the chilly air freezes against my damp skin. It’s smothering and my vision hazes between blur and black. I feel the treads delicate against my frozen body, but then as if the glacial cold did not hurt enough I felt something pierce my neck, sharp like a pin prick at first, then burning, until my whole being felt like it was on fire. I wasn’t cold anymore, but I was scorching.
Lost in wonder I hardly noticed that someone was there until they spoke. It was a deep voice, like silk, that spoke to me. I turned to see a man laying to the far right of me, relaxed and smiling. “I’m sorry, what was that?” I felt dizzy truth and lies swirling in my mind as if this dream was some reality and I found myself somehow talking to something that didn’t exist or maybe it did. Maybe I was dead and this was a final dream or something, maybe he was here to take me to hell.
I found myself consciously stroking the cross on my necklace as he chuckled low and dark. “I said sing my precious little queen, sing to me.” I watch him move closer walking on the threads as if he was sure of every foot hold until he was a mere few inches away. I felt spellbound and my voice called out with soft quiet notes forming into a tune and all around me the quiet night broke as spiders big and small began to swarm around us until some were resting against me skin and others covered the threads around us. “Welcome to your new life, my Queen.”
A/N Ok so This is my first story that will probably have chapters and that I decided to be festive and start on Halloween, I'm not exactly sure where I'll take it, but I'm hoping to figure it out more later on. Anyways, feel free to point out mistake, I'll try to fix them as quickly as possible.
