We were silent for the first hour or so on the train. We were still underground. Elias just kept looking forward, looking out the window. Something was on his mind. I didn't know what it was, but he was obviously thinking about something. I was worried, because within the short amount of time knowing him, I looked up to him, like a father. I looked down, then I decided to ask him what was on his mind.
"Elias?" i mumbled his name.
"What?" He answered.
"Is something wrong?"
"Well... There is, but I don't think you should know."
"I'm ready for it whenever you are."
"Okay... So, you could clearly tell I was bothered by that dead body in that bathtub, right?" I shook my head, then he continued, "It reminded me of a friend, I used to be a part of a cannibal group." I just looked at him, as my eyes widened, and my mouth dropped, because I was shocked by what he told me. He just grinned at me, then kept talking, "They hunted humans. I literally has no choice but to help them, to make sure of my survival. Believe me, I didn't like it either. Like I said, I had no choice. I had to eat human. There was literally no other food where we lived. We captured many humans in the few months I was there. The cannibal group, as far as I know, is on this side of the country. This does not mean I want to eat you. It was a sickening time in my life, and I couldn't bear it anymore. So one night, I left, they probably never noticed until the next day.."
"How did it remind you of a friend?" I asked.
"They killed my one friend, because rumors spread about him wanting to leave. They cut his skin off, and left him in a bathtub, for everyone to see," He articulated, then added, "War never changes."
"Huh?" I asked.
"Its a quote I saw somewhere, while reading old magazines and articles from the stores. They are probably after me, and trying to hunt me down. They've done it before to other people."
"I understand, but I'm with you on this," I replied. I was still shocked, but he had to do what had to be done to ensure his survival.
"There's more." He exclaimed, then added, "They are mostly located in Las Vegas."
I looked at him, now more shocked, and now angry too, how could he do this. He was literally leading me to my death if they are still there. He knows where they are located. I wanted to fucking punch him, no, I wanted to kill him. And in this world, I would've gotten away with it, but I decided not to. Not because he didn't deserve punishment, but I did still care. I lost a major amount of respect towards him.
"What the fuck, Elias?!" I angrily yelled at him.
"I'm sorry..." He whispered.
"You tell me this NOW?! AND ALL YOU HAVE TO SAY IT SORRY?!" I hollered at him, at the top of my lungs."That's all I can s-" He started talking then i cut him off.
"No, don't give me the 'that's all I can say' bullshit. No. FUCK YOU!" I shouted in his face. He just looked at me blankly. I crossed my arms and huffed. It was silent for a bit longer, until the speaker came on saying we were 30 minutes away from the destination.
"Look, Oliver, I'm sorry but some things were best unsaid," Elias finally spoke up. I just looked at him. I didn't want to respond to him. I was pissed enough as it was. He kept talking, "I was scared you would judge me for it. I was terrified of what you would think. I still have nightmares about all that happened when I was with them. They also threatened my life if I ever left. I was one of the lucky ones to escape. Please don't stay mad at me. Please." He begged for my forgiveness. I just looked at him and nodded my head back and forth. If we didn't die, I wasn't sure if I could ever forgive him. He kept something from me, basically lying. I've never felt so fucking betrayed in my useless, shitty, life. The speakers announced there was 15 minutes left until the destination."Please, I don't want to go in here with us hating each other. I don't want you mad at me. Please!" He kept begging, I kept ignoring him. How dare he think this is okay, he just put both of out lives on the line.
"How fucking dare you!" I sternly yelled at Elias.
"Why?" He replied.
"Don't do this. Don't make it look like this is my fault, you sick fucking bastard," I viciously yelled at him, then slammed my hand on the train door."You know what? Fuck you too, Oliver, you're such a fucking whiny pussy!" He finally snapped back at me. I gave him a mean, evil look, and I ignored him again. Then he added, "Don't you dare say I didn't try!" I continued ignoring him, with the train almost being at its destination. Here I was, mad at the one person I looked at as a father. Basically, the person I looked up to, betrayed me and lied to me. I was done.
