Warm summer breeze blowing around us as we
jump to the sky to catch fireflies
The smell of evergreen surrounding us as we
race to collect pinecones
Fresh crisp apples from the tree out back
The oversized daisy crowns we made for
each other
The cool water surrounding us on hot summer
days
The short walk to the lake where we fish all day
Roasting marshmallows over the fireplace.
when the rain is pounding outside the
window
Laughing as you distract me from my pain
Nothing is better then childhood with youWaking up to find the fireflies gone, all that's
left is the empty jar
Dirt and sap covering every inch of us with our hard work gone
Covered from head to toe in scrapes and blood
The decomposing Daisy crowns forgotten and
alone
Walking home soaked with knotted hair
Catching nothing but mosquitos
Skin blistering from the heat of the crackling
fire
The laughter dies, but the pain remains
Nothing is better than childhood with you
