Mr. and Mrs. Mason were wealthy citizens of the rural town of Swanton. Emphasis on the were. Donna Mason was a professional jockey whose passion for horses had grown, even since birth. She rode and bred, and was excellent at it. She had to take a break for a while, since her husband, Aaron, desperately wanted children. That was fine by her, as it gave her more time to read and cook.
Aaron, Donna's husband, was previously a sports administrator at the local high school before buying up businesses and earning his wealth that way. He met Donna while he was overseeing a renovation at JRA Equestrian Center. With the way he saw her tending to foals and training her horse, Warrior's Ghost - he knew she was the one.
They settled in a large two-story home with three bedrooms and lots of space. There, they had their first three children, and planned for one to come soon. AJ (short for Aaron Jr.), their oldest, was a stellar student and quite the wordsmith. He had many friends at his school. Cielo, a toddler, was shaping up to be a creative little fellow.
Even Donna's horses, Warrior's Ghost and Goddess were welcoming protégés into the world. Stunning young War Goddess (naturally her parents' namesake, as many racehorses are named) was fleet, and fast as a bullet.
A month later, Cierva Mason opened her eyes to the world. They were crystal blue - unlike the deep navy of many other baby boys and girls. She was a beautiful baby, in perfect health. An angel in the crib once they got her home, too. She didn't even cry.
