"So that's it?" I state, pouring the last of the concoction into a thin spherical glass shell before it magically seals itself off. The liquid then spirals up and changes into a purple mist and starts vibrating slightly. "That was the last one right?"
"Yes. So which ones are which?" Professor Kendra tests.
I begin naming them in rapid succession "Earth's green and it's rough, Wind and smoke both feel like they move on the surface but the former is cold and white and the latter is warm and grey, Fire is obviously hot and orange duh, Water is blue and warm, Ice is light blue and cold, Darkness is black and feels fuzzy, that's an odd one, Light is yellow and has no texture, just feels like warm air, and sound" I hold up the orb in my hand "Is this one"
"Good." She smiles as I place the sound orb in line with the other five sitting in a row, beside eight other rows, each of a different kind. I would be proud if I made all of them, but Kendra probably made thirty out of the forty of them.
"How long have we been in here?" I inquire. There is a serious lack of clocks around the school. The only one I've seen so far would be the one by my bed.
"Around an hour and a half." Professor answers, moving to place some of the orbs in a small bag. Thinking quick, I stop her.
"Can I keep some of them?" She gives me a puzzled look.
"I don't see why not." She points to an empty box sitting beneath one of the desks.
Just as all the orbs are packed away, a commotion starts out in the hallway. Glancing at Kendra, we both rush out of the lab and I crash straight into Steph, who happened to be flying in the back of a crowd of students.
"What is it with us and literally running into people?" I mutter as we help each other up from the floor. "What's going on?" I ask.
"It's the Azrael dorms, someone got in..." The angel explains. Professor Kendra brushes past and we all start moving down the hallways. Once we caught up with the crowd outside of the Azrael dorms, she starts pushing her way through, Steph and I in tow. In the place of the guarded dorm door is a gaping hole, the wood splintered around the edges, and the remains of it scattered around the floor.
"Not many of us were in the dorms when this happened. Those who were didn't see who it was." A tall, blonde girl with a orange tattoo like mark on her wrist steps forward. Azrael's head girl I'm assuming.
"Is everyone accounted for?" The professor asks, the dread in her voice growing.
"We're just doing a check now." She waves her hands towards a few other older students moving amongst the enlarging crowd. Steph and I begin to pick up the shattered wood pieces off the floor, hoping to help by salvaging what we can and several others join us. Cradling five other pieces in my arms, I turn over a large plank that was lying off to the side of the others, and feel the fear sinking down inside me.
"Professor...I think you want to see this." My voice shakes as I hand the plank over into her outstretched hand. The plank was the piece that held the door guardian of Azrael's dorms...or at least what was left of it. Deep gashes and scratches covered the previously majestic carving of a dragon, now barely recognizable.
"Professor Kendra." The Azrael prefect walks back from the checks.
"Any missing?" The robed woman asks, her voice low, as if she knew the answer already.
"One." The tattooed girl whispers. I scan the crowd. All of the Azrael kids would be here...I look over and over the faces, trying to search for the few that I recognize, and I just can't seem to find one. I whisper in dread.
"Mika."
My eyes drift over to Tyler, standing in the back. He nods, as if knowing what I'm thinking. We think we know who did this.
"Are we sure she isn't just in another part of the school?" Steph whines, hope straining her voice.
"After class we went back to our dorms." A faerie steps forward. I know her...Brooklyn, one of the Mimir girls. She would have been with Mika last in the faerie class of Power Training.
Leo speaks up "I saw her come in. Nobody left before" He pauses. "That." and points to the plank of wood in Professor's hands. "We all hid. Mika wasn't seen after we came out either."
"She was taken." I whisper. Afraid.
"There's no way to know for sure..." Leo says, but his voice is wavering too.
"Everyone clear out. The Azraels will stay in the other dorms until this is sorted out." Kendra instructs before taking off down the hallway.
