"Shouldn't it be easier for her?! To change considering she's already part vampire," I hear mum say. Her tone sounds... concerned yet harsh? Almost accusing.

"I don't know," Carlisle says, sympathy evident in his tone. "I have yet to witness anything like this."

"Ma... make it sto-stop, please," I beg between the piercing pains in my temples. It feels as though someone is stabbing a knife into the side of my head and twisting... well, that is what I think this would feel as bad as.

"Is there anything we can do to help her Carlisle?" Jake asks, an arm still around me whilst another tries to pry my hands from my head. "Nessie, please stop digging into your head," Jake pleads.

"Not that I know of, she has to ride it through," Carlisle responds.

I hear Jake sigh. "It's okay," he says, Jake's attention back to me. "You'll be okay Nessie," he says reassuringly, his hand now stroking my forehead gently. He still has one arm wrapped around my shoulders, ensuring I do not throw myself onto the floor as I continue to rock forwards and back in pain. I realise my legs are tightly restrained thanks to my father, however I still keep retracting my legs, trying to wrap my body into a ball.

"Jake, d-do-don't" – I stutter, cursing myself for not being able to speak clearly.

"I won't leave you Nes, I promise. I am right here," he soothes.

I strain to open my eyes and see Alice out of the corner of my field of vision. She is staring at something in the distance . . . well, to someone who does not know about her visions would think that. However I know otherwise; this happens when she is seeing something.

"Al-Alice, what are you" – my question is stopped prematurely due to the pain worsening. My eyes close again for a second involuntarily and I force them open in panic. What if they never open again? We don't know if this is meant to happen . . . what is Alice is seeing that I die? Her vision is scaring me and I don't even know what it is. I cannot allow this pain to take over me, especially when I have no idea what is going to happen. I have to fight this.

"Nessie, don't fight it," dad says. Obviously he just overheard my thoughts.

"You don't know what will happen if I don't fight it, if I will ever wake up," I present my worries to him through my thoughts, knowing my voice will betray me.

"You will, there is others like you. I just wish they told us about this part," dad reassures, his voice is soft, calm.

His soothing words do not convince me, I am too frightened and in sheer agony. I don't want to give in.

"Nes, don't fight it," Jake says, still stroking my forehead with me in his arms. My head is still in his lap. I turn my head slightly so I can look at his face. He gives a small smile and I find myself providing a faint smile in return despite my pain. "You will be okay, I promise," Jake promises me.

"How can you be sure?" I ask through my thoughts, sending them to Jake through our touch, knowing dad will be hearing it too.

"Because you are a fighter Nes, you are not going anywhere," he says soothingly.

I close my eyes briefly and look back at his gaze. I know he is worried but he is demonstrating a strong front for me. I raise my hand to touch him, and his hand meets mine. He squeezes my hand. "Nes, give in. I will be with you until you wake, no matter how long it takes."

I give Jake a slight nod. I am not looking forward to being unconscious for . . . well, however long it takes but there is nothing I can do. I realise I have stopped rolling in pain, dad's grip on my legs have loosened. I feel myself giving into the pain, accepting it and knowing that there is nothing else I can do. I feel light, as if welcoming this is what I am meant to do. I begin slipping in and out of consciousness until I slip into complete nothingness.
