Titania reveled in the joy and mirth about her. The laughter, the music, the dancing. It was all as she desired. Her golden skin glowed on its own under the shades of night. Her blonde hair too glittered like the sun. It fell loose about her. Bright red Poppies crowned her golden locks.

Tonight was the Summer Solstice. And all the Fae of the Seelie court had come to revel in the magic of the night and power of their queen. Satyrs played pipes and nymphs and pixies danced together in the din.

"Behold the gifts of your queen!" Titania cried above the noise she could be clearly heard. It was as though she was in the ear of all. "I give to you this night Nectar and Ambrosia! Food of the great immortals!"

Soon goblets full of pink and gold liquids appeared on tables, on rocks and into the hands of subjects. "Drink well and gain strength on this our most powerful of all nights!" And as they drank the louder the music and the laughter became.

Titania felt the glow of all Seelie kind pouring onto her skin. It was warm, soft and delicate. Like a moth or butterfly landing on your cheek. Nothing could be better. All her work, all her schemes had come to fruition. It was her third year as Seelie queen and none had dare to oppose her.

She thought back to the times when she had been but a lowly fairy. A mere hand maiden to Una. Though she had been a good and just queen she had not the cunning of Titania. And when the war had come she had been slain by Mab herself. The queen of all dark and Unseelie Fae.

This unfortunate event had however played out right into Titania's grasp. She had gained favor with all those in the court she could so that when the time arose she would need no magic to claim her crown. And once the title had been conferred Titania had felt her power grow three fold. It had become so great a strength that all Fae kind knew she could never be slain.

The music began to fade into a strange hushed silenced. This pulled Titania back into the moment. "Why grow you silent my court?" her question seemed to fall on deaf ears. No one answered. No one moved. Then she noticed him.

"Lord Oberon." She said stiffly. "Come to play tricks on a poor girl again?"

"You are no girl." He was cold in his speech. His tawny brown eyes looked only at her. The prize, the prey. despite the darkness that hung about him he glowed with a golden light as all Seelie do. His tan skin reflected it as a opaque kind of mirror. Dull yet vibrant. "My queen I am yours."

"Fool! Should I believe your words? A lady may be fooled once but never twice.".

His eyes narrowed. "It has been 125 moons since then. And I realize now it was a mistake. That Mab controlled me and lied to me makes no difference to you does it?"

"All lies designed to trick and fool." her voice heavy laden with distain. "Begone traitor. Our court has no want of you." her hands began to glow with a golden white light as her anger increased so did it's brightness. "Leave on your own Oberon or I shall be forced to protect my people."

"Titania please-"

"Leave!!!" her face had changed from great beauty to pure rage. "I will do what I must for the innocent and the weak!"

"You really would kill me wouldn't you my love?" His swagger changed into resignation. Without another word Oberon left in a swirl of dust and shadows.

What a fool. She thought to herself. Could he really walk in like that and expect me to believe him or allow him to be amongst my people. He was banished long ago to the middle lands. Just because he could break free on this night only didn't mean he was allowed.

"Worry not my Queen." a soft voice said.

Titania looked to her left and saw the creature. An owl. "Who are you?"

"I am me." the owl giggled. "Oberon will not bother us again."

"What is your name owl?" her ire rose as she spoke the words.

"Kowann. I must be going my children are calling." the owl said as she spread her wings. "When the sun rises he shall be no more." and the owl shot up through the trees and a speed so fast it could be barely seen.

What in all the lands is going on. Titania's eyes grew heavy as the sun approached. She retired to her chamber within the great tree and slumber fell upon her.
