"I don't know about this....."
"Your mothers got a point, Jude. How are you two so sure this'll work out?" Mr. Hopps asked cautiously as his daughter sat in front of him and his wife on the couch, along with her boyfriend.
Well, her fiancé.
"Well we've dated for a while. This'll be the same. Just with a promise." Judy replied with a frown as she held onto the fox's upper arm lightly.
"But you two dated in secret....." Mrs. Hopps voice trailed on into Nicks ears.
The whole conversation going through one ear and out the other.
He was staring blankly at a few of the younger Hopps children sitting in a circle a few feet away from the couch. They seemed to be whispering. And Nick had no doubt it was about him. Well, about his tame collar.
Nick took a deep breath as he adjusted his suits collar around his tame collar, clearly trying to hide it. As he usually did.
Nick always wore 'fancy' outfits. Typically a suit or a dress shirt. He tried to look nice. Most of the time.
"What do you think about this, dear?" Mrs. Hopps soft voice then snapped him back to reality for a second.
"What—oh. Me? Uh....." Nick stammered as he then started pulling at his suits sleeves. It was obvious he wasting paying attention to the conversation.
"See, Bon, he wasn't even listening." Mr. Hopps scoffed with an annoyed tone.
"Stu." Mrs. Hopps said sternly.
"Me and Nick already spoke about this. We know what we're up against." Judy interrupted her parents as she glanced up at Nick and smiled.
The light on Nicks collar flashed yellow as he felt his heart rate pick up as he heard the tone of his fiancé's fathers voice. He had to stop being nervous or calm down. The last thing he wanted to do was shock himself. Especially in front of potential in-laws.
"Yeah......we already know...." Nicks eyes traveled to the floor as his ears flattened.
Judy frowned at the sudden change of the color on his collar.
"We're ready for anything the world throws at us." Judy said with a strong voice.
But they weren't.
"We just want your blessing." Judy added with a smile towards her parents as she hugged the fox's upper arm.
"Our blessing? Well I wanna hear the fox ask." Mr. Hopps demanded before crossing his arms.
Nick opened his mouth to speak but got cut off by Mrs. Hopps.
"You have our blessing." Mrs. Hopps said softly, shooting a large smile to the predator sitting next to her daughter.
Nicks collar changed back to green as he heard the kind bunny's voice.
"Stu...." Mrs. Hopps nudged her husband.
Mr. Hopps sighed. "You have my blessing...." He said quietly, clearly annoyed, but didn't want to start anything.
Judy smiled warmly and got off the couch and hugged her parents tightly.
Nicks smile widened as he saw the bunny hug her parents. His ears then perked up at the feeling of something climb onto the couch. He turned a bit to the side to see four of Judy's younger sisters staring at him. Two on the couch and the other two behind the arm rest. These young bunnies certainly weren't use to a predator in their house.
"....Hello....." Nick said softly, raising his hand slightly to give a small wave awkwardly.
But when he raised his hand. Three of the little bunnies shrieked and hopped off the couch and ran back to the circle they had been sitting in.
Judy, Mr, and Mrs. Hopps quickly turned to see what was the cause of the shriek. All three pairs of eyes traveling straight to Nick.
Nick opened his mouth to speak, but didn't know what to say. He felt pathetic. He always did.
Mr. Hopps opened his mouth to say something, but got cut off by the small bunny that was still on the couch, holding her very tiny hand out towards Nick.
"My name is Margret. And I'm Judy's favorite sister." The small bunny said with a bright smile.
Judy's ears perked up and she laughed softly, putting her hand on her head at the mention of her 'favorite' sister.
Nick smiled slightly and reached his hand out, and gently shook the small bunnys hand.
".....Nick."
Nick hated visiting Judy's parents. But maybe this one little bunny would make it better for him.
"Are you gonna marry Judy?" Margret asked with a bright smile.
Nicks ears flattened, but a smile remained on his face.
"That's the plan." His voice got back up to his 'normal' tone.
"But what about your neck?" The small bunny ask as they let go of each other's hand.
Nicks smile disappeared and he sunk back into the couch.
"What about it?" He bit down on the inside of his cheek.
Nick hated talking about his collar. Although he got his collar off everyday and the amusement park. The thought of it still made him sick.
"If Judy marries you. Will she get a collar? Don't they hurt bad mammals?" The bunny asked in a small voice.
The mention of Judy getting a collar would clearly never come true. But the thought now bothered the fox.
"No. She wouldn't." He said softly.
"Why do you have one?" One of Judy's brothers asked as he hopped onto the arm rest next to Nick. Leaning against him.
Nicks eyes then widened, noticing how Mr. And Mrs. Hopps were suddenly taking Judy out of the room for a more in depth talk about their situation. Thinking that now that Nick was distracted, they could take Judy to sit her down and talk.
Nicks eyes stayed glued on Judy until she was unable to be seen.
His ears then flattened even more at the sight of how many of Judy's siblings sat next to, and around him. Wanting to hear about the tame collar.
"I.....I.." Nick completely lost his thought, he was too focused on Judy. He knew her parents were gonna try talking her out of marrying him. And Nick wanted to marry that bunny more than anything else in whole world.
His emotions were getting so strong, causing the light on his collar to turn yellow again.
He pushed himself up off the couch but stopped at all the bunnies sitting in front of the couch.
"You what?" One of the siblings asked as Nick stood.
Nick didn't answer, he had started walking to the door. To try and find Judy before her parents could put any images in her head.
"Hey! Where are you going?" One of Judy's younger sisters complained as the fox walked to the entrance of the room.
Nick didn't answer again, he was just trying to get passed all the bunnies.
One of Judy's younger brothers stood up when he walked by. He knew Nick clearly wasn't going to stop. So this bunny stomped his foot down on Nicks tail as he walked by. Trying to stop him. But didn't know what he actually did.
Nick flinched when he felt one of the bunnies step on his tail. His stomach dropped as he heard the loud beep his collar made as the light shined red. He quickly hunched over as he felt the agonizing shock travel through his neck. Then to the rest of his body.
The room fell silent as Nick screamed out in pain.
After he screamed, Nick quickly covered his mouth and pushed back his urge to cry. This was absolutely awful. His ears quickly flattened against his head as he heard footsteps rushing towards the room. And in ran Judy and her mother.
"Whats going—" Judy stopped and her ears flattened as she saw Nick standing there, covering his mouth. She knew what had happened. After being around predators so long in Zootopia, she knew what a freshly shocked one looked like.
Nick slowly made his way over to his fiancé and her mother.
"Mrs. Hopps.....thank you for your blessing." He said softly as his voice cracked.
"Judy.....I....I uh.....I'm gunna wait for you outside on the porch." Nick didn't hesitate to walk passed the two bunnies. Making his way to the front door of the farm house.
Mrs. Hopps frowned and glared at her children. Also knowing what must've happened.
"Alright. Who did it?" Mrs. Hopps asked sternly.
Almost every bunnies hand in the room went straight to the one brother who was standing. A tiny little six year old bunny. The one who stepped on Nicks tail.
Mrs. Hopps huffed and crossed her arms.
"Devon. Go apologize." Mrs. Hopps demanded with a irritated tone.
"But momma! I didn't know he'd get electrocuted!" The little bunny exclaimed as he stomped his foot and started crying at the fear of getting in trouble.
"I don't care. Go apologize." Mrs. Hopps demanded for a second time.Nick had been sitting out on the porch for about half an hour before Judy came out and sat down next to him.
"Im sorry......" Nick said softly as he put his eyes into his hands, his voice raspy from his sobbing.
Judy ears flattened and she placed her small hands on Nicks arms softly as she slowly lowered his hands down, and away from his face.
"Nichols. I should be apologizing......." She murmured. "He didn't mean it." She leaned over and kissed the fox's cheek.
Nick smiled slightly at the feeling of the kiss, holding his hand against where he was kissed.
"I know.....its just the collar.....I....I...." Nick couldn't finish. His collar turned yellow and he tried to calm himself down quickly.
Judy sighed and rubbed the fox's back softly, trying to help him calm himself down.
"When we get back to Zootopia.....we can go to the park and over fill the cotton candy machine. That always makes you smile....." Judy said with a small smile.
Nick chuckled softly, the light on his collar changing back to green.
"Thanks, Carrots....." He nuzzled the bunny softly as he blinked back tears.
The front door opened slowly. The fox and bunny turned to look back at the door. As they were sitting down on the steps.
Out stepped Devon. The little bunny who had accidentally shocked Nick. He was holding a folded piece of paper. He slowly walked to Nick. He held the paper out to him.
Nick smiled softly and took the piece of paper slowly.
"What's this?" He asked as he unfolded the paper. Nicks eyes then widened, he then smiled warmly at what was written on the paper. It was a little hard to read do to the scribbles and incorrect spellings, but he tried his best to read it.
The paper read;ᴅᴇᴀʀ ɴɪᴄᴋ,
ɪ ᴀᴍ sᴏʀᴇʏ ᴛʜᴀᴛ ɪ sʜᴏᴋᴇᴅ ʏᴏᴜ. ᴘʟᴇsᴇ ᴅᴏɴᴛ ʟᴇᴠᴇ ᴊᴜᴅʏ ᴄᴜᴢ ɪ ᴡᴀs ᴍᴇᴀɴ. ᴄᴜᴢ ᴊᴜᴅʏ ɪs ᴄʀᴀᴢʏ ᴀʙᴏᴜᴛ ʏᴏᴜ, ᴀɴᴅ sʜᴇ ᴡᴜᴠs ᴜ ᴡɪᴛʜ ᴀʟʟ ʜᴇʀ ʜᴀʀᴛ.Judy's eyes widened as she glanced over at the card and her face quickly got red as she looked away from Nick. Her face burning up from embarrassment.
Nick smiled up at the small bunny. He folded the paper up and put it in one of his suit pockets.
"Thanks, bud." Nick said warmly as the little bunny nodded before quickly running back into the house.
Nick then turned back to sit forward on the steps, next to Judy. He then nudged her playfully.
"Don't worry, Carrots. I'm obsessed with you." He said, sending a smirk the bunnys way.
Judy's face got dark red and she gave a large, and embarrassed smile as she nodded towards her fiancé.
