It was one of those nights.
You lay restless in your bed, staring blankly up at the barren ceiling as you listened to the storm outside. Raindrops pelted against the glass window, trying to grab your attention but with no avail. Your gaze was unwavering; not even the loud claps of thunder or the illuminating lightning were able to make you blink.
Alucard
One name passed through your thoughts and it seem to set off a chain reaction. Your body involuntarily shuddered, a chill running down your spine.
"Alucard..." you whispered, testing the way it rolled off your tongue. It almost reminded you of drinking coffee; it was smooth and silky but also left a bittersweet aftertaste. Although, it was not something you minded. The man responsible for plaguing your thoughts and keeping you awake was physically far away but he was always in your mind, his presence always looming over you. As you continued to lay there, your thoughts turned to ones that were much less innocent. Heavy breathing, soft groans and the shuffling of sheets around two molten bodies that seemed to meld together as the seconds passed. Your hands sliding through long, silky tresses as you arch into your lover. A light chuckle escapes him as his hands continue their journey in searching out all the hidden crevices in your body, searching for all your sweet spots as he began to mentally sketch out a treasure map. The swell of your breast, the junction in your neck, to apex of your thighs--
"So eager for me aren't you now my dear?"
The low rumbling voice teased you back to reality. You hadn't realized that your hands had made their way down between your legs and your delicate fingers were rubbing against the sensitive bundle of nerves while you were lost in your daydream. A soft blush graced your face as you removed your hands and slid up into a sitting position with your back against the backboard of the bed. You glanced at the tall, lean figure relaxing in the shadows of your room. Two spheres glowed back at you, a dark ring surrounding each of those mesmerizing scarlet irises. You broke eye contact, the pressure being too much to bear, and began fiddling with the velvety blanket that cocooned you.
"I thought you were going to be away for a while," you murmured, absentmindedly brushing away a stray lock of hair.
"Things were taken care of more quickly than expected," was his reply as he emerged from the shadows. You couldn't bring yourself to meet his gaze after he caught you performing such a sinful act, not that he is anywhere remotely close to pure. A slim finger tilted your chin up, its nail grazing your delicate throat and making your breath hitch. Crimson clashed against (e/c) and you cursed him under your breath for his power over you. Whenever he was around, it was like you magically lost your ability to think straight or function properly. Were you love-struck? No, it wasn't possible. You couldn't see yourself bound to anyone for the rest of your life, never mind an eternity. At least that is what you always told yourself even though your soul thought otherwise.
"Ah..." was all your could manage. "You're welcome to stay here. You can have the bed since I can't seem to fall asleep." Like he slept at all, you silently berated yourself for such a silly suggestion.
"You wish to play this game again," he stated rather than questioned. With a sigh, he slipped off his overcoat and boots before sliding into bed next to you. You frowned, looking back up at the ceiling.
"I'm not playing any games," you muttered defiantly, shuffling a few inches away from man beside you. When you heard no reply, you glanced over to see his closed eyes and the slow rise and fall of his chest. Your lips twisted downward as you pushed the blankets off of you with the intention in mind to watch the rain fall from the large window in the dining room. Before your feet could hit the ground, an arm wrapped itself around your waist, pulling you back into a firm chest. It rumbled as you heard a deep chuckle resonate in your ear.
"My sweet (y/n), always one to act without reason." His hot breath fanning over your cheek, the smell of something sinister engulfing your senses. You pouted almost childishly, twisting your body so that you were now facing the vampire. Refusing to meet his gaze and instead focusing on the glint of his fangs in the moonlight, you poke at his chest.
"You're the one who plays with my emotions," you grumbled. "Always leaving on short notice and never checking up on me. It's no wonder why I don't love you." The words left a sour taste on your tongue and you regretted muttering out the last part. Alucard merely grinned, his free hand trailing a path from your cheek down to your hip.
"My lover is always oh-so cruel," he said with a slight mocking tone. You resisted the urge to shove him for his sarcastic tone so instead you settled on swatting his hand away before sitting up.
"I'm going to play some music," you decided, getting off the bed to put on some relaxing music. You stood there in front of the old phonograph with a gentle smile as notes began pouring out of it. Alucard had found it buried in some attic, what he was doing there you didn't dare ask. As a gift of apology for leaving so abruptly the night before, he got someone to clean it up for him before giving it to you along with a few records. You were upset but could not stay upset when the vampire decided to show you his kinder side which was a rare occasion. He was either witty or lustful and rarely anything else around you.
Shuffling was heard along with the groaning of the old bed frame behind you before you felt large hands at your waist. Alucard turned you towards him, grasping your hand with one his to set it on his shoulder before putting his other hand on your waist. He held out his free hand to the side and you took it, understanding the vampire's intentions. You leaned against his sculpted chest, eyes closing as he led you around the room with expertly placed steps. Your bodies swept perfectly with the pace of the song and you were instantly sent to a place of contentment. These were the moments you realized that love didn't even begin to describe your relationship with the deadly creature that was currently holding you in his embrace.
He had a piece of your being and you had a piece of his. When the pieces are put back together, all that is felt is...
Tranquility.
