Cats were going crazy, but I didn't care. Instead, I raced away from Heathertail and straight to Bramblestar. He had leapt down and was coming to me.
"Bramblestar! I-"
"Jadefern, I have an idea."
I stopped talking and listened.
"When Scourge is well enough, we are going to send a patrol to fetch him. I will ask Onestar for permission to send for us when the time is right. How's that?"
"That's great! Thank you so much Bramblestar! You don't understand what this means to me!"
Bramblestar purred and leapt back to his spot. Rowanstar, seeing that he had something to say, yowled out for the cats to the quiet.
"Thank you, Rowanstar. And Onestar, I must admit. I am more thrilled than worried by this news. If it is okay with her, I must say something." He looked at me. I knew what he was going to say and nodded, giving my approval. Bramblestar nodded back and continued.
"I have recently taken in Jadefern and her kits. She told me that it was her mate's dying wish to find ThunderClan and ask for Firestar. I was confused, and asked who her mate was. It turns out, it was Scourge."
Gasps could be heard around the clearing, though ThunderClan looked the most calm. They already knew. I turned to see Heathertail stating at me with shock.
"Well, Scourge had been swept away while Jadefern and her family were traveling to find us. I talked to her, and would like to ask you a favor, Onestar. When Scourge is well, we would like for you to send word so that a patrol of my cats may come and get him, so that he is reunited with his mate and kits."
I leaned forward. The sounds of shock had died down, and the clearing was silent. Every cat was waiting for the WindClan leader's answer.
"Very well. When he is fit, you may come get him."
I jumped up and turned to Heathertail. I was expecting her to be gone, running away in fear that my mate was a murderer, but instead she was still there.
"Oh, Jadefern! I'm so happy for you!"
We touched muzzles happily, and I turned to Bramblestar. He nodded at me, his eyes filled with joy. Yet only one thing was in my mind:
I'm going to be with Scourge again!
