PERFECT STORM
02 | BETTER DAYS

DARLA WOKE UP to classic rock and her sister dancing around the room, getting ready for school. darla looked at the clock on the wall, it was 6:29 am. darla groaned and slipped out of bed to use the bathroom.

"ley, can you grab me some toilet paper?" darla groined. leyla handed her rolls to put in the rack. the redhead washed her hands and started to pick out her outfit for the day, she chose a 1975 white tee shirt along with her favorite ripped jeans and white high top converse.

"dar, i'm going to borrow your shirt if that's fine with you," leyla said, raising up on of darla's shirts.

"go ahead, just don't lose it, please." darla pleaded, grabbing her curling iron out of the drawer.

"won't," leyla replied joyfully, "hey did you hear about dads? nat said that they just might be able to fly in today!"

darla knew they weren't coming, she stopped trusting their promises because they can only protect so much, on the other hand leyla always fell under the spell each and every time.

"oh, can't wait."

darla's text tone beeped and dad ❤️ popped up on the screen, she smiled and unlocked her phone.

dad❤️: hey sunshine, mind picking us up at the airport, if you don't mind
darla: yes of course dad, on my way

darla had only gotten her drivers license 2 weeks ago, she was still getting the hang of it—she especially planned on impressing her fathers.

"guess im going to have to school with frizzy hair," darla said, forming her hair into a messy bun, "hey, leyls, i'm going to pick up dads; wanna come or not?"

"pass, i'll try to make breakfast," leyla responded, applying her last coat of mascara onto her black eyelashes.

it was an average day in seattle, cold but not too cold. darla pulled into an airport parking space, she slipped out and walked through the doors and found her fathers sitting on a bench, entertaining themselves. darla walked up to them and hugged both tightly—she hadn't seen them in what felt like forever.

"we missed you, dar," bucky said, kissing the top of darla's pale forehead, "where's my other baby?"

"she's at home, throwing something together for us," she replied.
