Chapter 4
The Following Morning
I woke up the next morning, still with the story Tyler had told us. The sun peaked through the window. We were both still in our clothes from yesterday. Candy wrappers and empty pop cans surrounded our sleeping bags.
I looked over at Trevor who was still sleeping. Should I wake him? No, not yet.
I went to my window and looked out. The old house stood still at the end of the road. I stared deeply at the house. There was nothing unusual about the house. It looked like a normal house, but what secrets could it hold?
Then I saw a soft light tun on in one of the windows. I held my breath. I saw a figure of a person in the window. What were they doing? They just stood still in front of the window. A blind was in front of the figure so I could only see their outline.
The blind shot up like a rocket. I quickly dived down so that the person would not see me. I slowly looked out the bottom of the window. The blind was back down again.
I got up, still looking out of the window.
Suddenly a hand reached out and grabbed my shoulder! I jumped and turned around quickly to face Trevor.
Trevor had just gotten up and I had not heard him.
“What’s wrong with you?” Trevor asked me.
“I saw someone in the house across the street!” I told him excitedly.
Trevor seemed interested. “What did they look like?”
“I don’t know” I told him a little disappointed.
“You don’t know!”
“Sorry, I could’t see the person behind the blind!”
“I think you’re going paranoid, dude.” I knew for a fact that wasn’t true.
After that Trevor helped me clean my room. He packed up and said he needed to go home soon. I helped him pack up his sleeping bag and other stuff. By 10:30 he was out the door.
Trevor had said something about a meeting his parents had, so that’s why he had to leave early.
I went to my couch and sat down.
The thoughts of the house cluttered my mind. Was Trevor right about me going paranoid? No, there was someone in that house.
