Emma's POV
-
2 and a half hours of hang man with a 9 year old boy isn't how I would describe my perfect plane ride to my perfect summer, but hey, this is what i've been stuck with. My Mum, Dad and brother are sitting together in one row which leaves me - the odd one out - to sit on my own. But no fear! I'm sitting with a 9 year old boy. God, I hate kids. Especially when they beat me at hang man.
"WOW I've beat you 19 times!!!" Said the boy. If he doesn't shut it then I'm gonna shut it for him.
"Mmm you sure have." I reply, gritting my teeth and showing him a fake grin.
"Can we play again??" No, no we can't.
"Actually, I think I might have lost my pen..." I say, kicking my pen under the chair in front
"Have mine!" little shit. As he hands it over to me, I come up with a devious plan - It's a pencil, so I'll crush the led!
"Oops!", I say, as I press the sharpened end of the pencil into the fold-out table of the airplane, "I'm a bit heavy handed."
"hmph," He starts in a huff, "I'll just go and ask my brother for a pencil, he has loads."
"No need, I-" But it's too late, mr annoying has already jumped out of his aisle seat and gone to look for his brother. In the mean time I think up a word he'll never guess; Antidisestablishmentarianism.
I look up to see Annoying Boy talking t- WOAhhH is that his brother?! maybe I should be nicer to him! Dark tousled hair, nice tan, got the whole surfer vibes going on, he could just be the definition of my type. I sit up straighter in my chair and adjust my distressed shorts, cross my legs and fluff up my hair just in case he looks over. I wonder what his name is?
"Please return to your seats and out your seatbelts on. We will arrive shortly." DANG IT! I was hoping he might come over!
"I got a pencil!" So you bloody well did, good for you.
"I see that, but we're about to land so we have to put the table up. It's not very good to play games whilst we're landing," I start to make up a lie "because when you look anywhere but in front of you it makes you feel very sick. Alot of adults can deal with it but people your age should never risk it. You can play hang man with your brother later, I'm sure he'd love a game!" Hehe, I feel a tad evil.
For the duration of the landing I listen to some OneRepublic and pretend that I'm asleep so the boy can't bother me. It's a shame, landings are my favourite; I would've loved to be looking out the window for this part!
