*Bella's pov*
Dylan and I stood outside the airport for half an hour waiting for a freaking driver to come and pick us up, under the hot sun. Dylan sat on the elderly red suitcase which laid on the ground, collected from our dusty basement, playing mine craft on his laptop, eyes glued to the screen, passing his time not caring how furious the weather is. I smacked on his head for him to look up and he looked resentfully up at me.
"Don't give me that look." I said folding my arms across my chest, looking down at him.
"I was so concentrated in mine craft!you ruined my game...well thanks for that." He said pausing the game.
"All you care is about the fudging game, isn't it? well let it go down the hole...aren't you worried that why the driver hasn't reached yet." He furiously shut his laptop and shoved it in his laptop bag.
"So what am I supposed to do...it's not that I insisted the driver to come late." He stood up and argued, well that's what I would think.
"Don't you have his number, don't wait come on call him." I said pushing his phone which he held in his hand towards his ear. I was quite worried as Brookline is a new place for us and Dylan, my stupid brother was so chill as if we came here for a great vacation.
"Well if you're so restless, why don't you call him." He handed me his phone harshly. "Go on!" He said when I stared at him angrily.
"Alright."
As soon as I typed the number and placed his phone against my ear, I heard horn noises reaching closer and closer towards us. I stopped and looked at that black shiny car hoping that's the one, it stopped in front of us, lowered its window. An old man's face covered with white beard peeped out and looked at Dylan and then me.
"Are yuh Bella Hagan and ahh what's his name.....Dolan!! Oh yes Dolan, are yuh?"
"Ugh! It's Dylan by the way....and yes that's us." Dylan had an annoyed look plastered on his face probably thinking how stupid this man is for not remembering such a simple name like his. The old man got out, walking with his lowered back towards the back of the car, snatching our suitcases and throwing them in the car trunk.
"Hey be delicate with my new suitcase." I warned him.
But the old man didn't seem to care, he was busy trying to fit two suitcases in his mini car trunk.
We hopped in and the driver started the engine, the car started but the A/C didn't work. We were sweating but the driver seemed to be fine, humming and singing, which after few hours started to get annoying.
After traveling a long distance we reached a long narrow road with old looking houses around both our sides. Dylan was just listing to music not caring about the real world, trapped in his own world while I was more interested in seeing how the houses were designed. They had amazing designs surfaced on them.
After a few minutes of struggling to get comfortable in my seat, the driver took right, I could see it from far away, a smile appeared on my face thinking that it's going to be a fresh start.
The driver took a final right turn, the car moved under long trees which covered the sky and formed as a shadow for our car to move through. It looked magnificent. The car stopped right in front of it. There it stood.....New Hampshire college?it didn't look new at all but it looked quite old and to my surprise creepy too. Maybe I am wrong, maybe it is designed this way.
"Yuh have reached yur destination." The old man said, turning back smiling at both of us with his black-yellow teeth, I thought it looked creepy. I rolled my eyes and gave him the money and got out with Dylan and fixed my brown curly hair. Dylan had a bewildered look plastered on his face. "I just checked the college website day before yesterday it wasn't creepy as it looks." He looked at me and scratched his head in a perplex manner.
Though I thought the same whatever went in his mind but maybe it's not what it really looked like.
"Are you sure we are in the right place." Dylan asked anxiously to the driver.
"Ofcawhse yuh are I have been a drivuh in Brookline fawh three years I can nevuh be wrong...I am familiar wit' all de roads and routes yuh know ." Said the driver certainly.
"Dylan don't ask silly questions now get moving." I thanked the driver ,took a huge gulp of air and started walking hoping we know where we were exactly going in order to enter the college.
"Yeah, yeah like I have to listen to all you murmur as if your the boss of me only because I am born five minutes late doesn't make you elder." I could hear him speak to himself softly making sure I do listen...Huh! He gets on my nerves sometimes...
I rolled my eyes and continued walking after a few distance we finally found a black rusty looking gate with security guards standing at both sides, they looked quite lazy like they were given up with their job, one was huge and fat like water filled in a balloon and the other was thin like a thread. No wonder the fat ass eats all his meal. When they saw us struggling with our suitcases they finally opened the gate for us. Too much to do right!
We walked in to see students scattered in a gigantic looking garden, some sitting on benches, others filling the air with chit-chats at both the sides of the college and between them were narrow paths leading to different destinations. "Guess this place isn't that bad." Dylan said after breaking a long silence between us.
"Bad? It's not bad at all." I said thinking that it's the first day and fine evening for making a good impression on people I meet.
"First years! First years please make a line over here, let me show you the way to your dormitories". A ginger haired boy said with British accent and freckles on his face, standing near the entrance of the college, he looked senior.
we passed this huge hallway with classes at my opposite sides, moving further, there were stairs which lead us up, we went one more floor up where all the dormitories laid. Boys and girls were separate....thank God!
we kept on going until few students weren't sorted in their dorms. Then he finally called my name. "Bella Hagan! where are you?" he turned, rolling his eyes here and there searching for me.
"over here!!" I raised my voice, raising my hand so he could find me.
"here you are! your dorm number is 208. Alright?" he gave me one glance and turned his back at me and moved forward. Dylan looked back at me and gave me an expression, I knew what his expressions said, actually I know everything about him and what he feels at that moment...(just a twin thingy really). He was just hoping he would find a cool roommate.
Well, that's what I hoped too. I took a deep breath, knocked on the door and twisted the doorknob. It opened for me to see a girl lying on her bed and reading a comic, she looked up after she got distracted with the closing of the door
"oh hello there." Her voice contained an angelic tone.
"uhh hi." I said awkwardly, that's how I am when I meet new people.
"that's your bed." she said pointing to my right.
"oh right, well I already figured." I smiled awkwardly, going towards my "now" claimed bed and kept my suitcases to the side of my bed thinking I will sort my clothes in the closet later. "You didn't introduce me with your name."
"oh so silly of me...I am Stella, Stella Anderson." she stood up brushing her hands on her white skirt, fixing it.
"I am Bella Hagan.."
"Nice name by the way." She said.
"Well thanks"
"So are you ready for tonight." she gave a sweet smile, opening her closet.
"ahh what? ready for what? what is tonight?" I asked, all confused, unable to figure it out.
"ready for the welcoming party of course, haven't you heard of it? it's due tonight." she picked out a white pearl dress and placed it near her chest. "This is what I will be wearing."
"That's an amazing dress, I am sure you will rock it." the dress looked quite good but it was too much. The problem was I did not have a fancy dress to wear, I wasn't prepared for such an occasion to take place.
"What are you wearing." Her big brown glassy eyes shone at me.
"Well I haven't decided yet plus I don't have a fancy dress similar to yours," I said hesitantly.
"It's okay I can lend you a pretty dress..my closet is filled with all of them." I could tell, I wasn't surprised, she sounded too sweet to wear something dark but something that matched her soul.
She took out this tight purple laced dress, it looked so soothing to the eyes, hoped It would fit my not so slim body.
"Thanks for that seriously." I smiled, she was sweet like sugar.
"Don't mention that." She walked towards her bed, sat on it, and started doing her previous activity.
I was quite tired actually after all the traveling, I set my alarm and was dead in bed.
After few hours I felt my body being jerked hard, my eyes slowly opened to see Stella, impatiently pulling me. I got up drowsy, stretching my arms, giving out a yawn.
"What is it, Stella," I said in a rough voice annoyed.
"Your alarm's ringing for so long." She said.
"Huh! Okay..I am up already."
"By the way, the party starts in 2 hours so we should start getting ready now." God damn woman! It's two hours remaining, I am pretty sure she would spend 1 hour on makeup and all the clown stuff. Well since I am up and awake I decided to go and have a check on Dylan.
"Hey, Stella? I will be back in a min." I walked out closing the door behind me. Dylan's door no. was 3010, he texted me as soon as he entered his room. I walked upstairs searching for 3010. "302,303...305,...308....3010..." I said reading the number stuck on doors until I found the right one. "Here it is." I knocked on the door only for the fact that he had a roommate or else I would have barged in without knocking. An unfamiliar face opened the door for me. He had a beautiful face with green eyes, hazel brown hair, perfect looking eyebrows, rosy cheeks and pink lips.
"Hey, umm you must be Dylan's sister, he has told me very uh..sweet things about you." He gave a friendly smile, he had a very different but nice accent.
"I knew that already, I am one to be remembered, he has a great place for me in his heart." I chuckled.
"Well, he's taking a shower right now, if you want you can come in." He said moving from the door, making a way for me.
"Yeah sure...I can wait." I walked in, he seemed like a nice guy he could have a great influence on my arrogant brother.
"Oh, by the way, I am Aaron smith." Said Aaron.
"The name suits you...I am Bella Hagan."
"I know that already."
His bedside was filled with superman, iron man and all the marvel and D.C. Stuff
"So you really like marvel don't you." I roamed my eyes on the stuff stuck on his wall.
"It's obvious isn't it..yeah I do it's number one on my fav list." He said looking at his own wall.
"I like your accent."
"I from Spain." He said.
"So you came here all the way from Spain." I asked.
"Well I am an adopted child. Me and my parents were never so close....they just..I guess wanted to get rid off me, but they would obviously pay my expenses, they would do anything to keep me away from them." His face had no expressions but when he observed me staring at him in a sorry manner he gave out a faint smile.
"Why did they adopt you in the first place."
"Well, at first they were quite happy to adopt me but after few years they started to show their real colors." His face was filled with immense sadness. His eyes looked cold as ice, he had a mysterious personality, which seemed that he reveals that part to only few people.
"You are totally different from what your brother has described about you.
"Yeah, he has some mental disorder...so don't worry about it." I rolled my eyes and sat on Dylan's bed, Aaron laughed.
Suddenly I hear the door knob of the bathroom opening, it was Dylan, coming out with his wet hair, wearing a blue shirt and white shorts. His expressions went from zero to hundred when he saw me.
"Speak of the devil and the devil is arrives." I rolled my eyes once again looking at his face.
"Huh, what is it...why are you here." He said throwing his towel on his bed.
"To have a check on you..." I said straight forward.
"I am not a 5-year-old alright, I can take care of myself." He said, sitting on his bed next to me.
"Sure, remember when you-"
"Okay enough!" He interrupted me while I was recalling an incident that took place two years ago. Anyways let's not talk about it.
Are you going to that party?" Dylan asked.
"Yeah borrowed some fancy clothes from my roommate." I told him." Now I will get going I have to get ready." I realized that 1 hour is left.
"Oh thank God." He said in a peaceful manner.I entered my room and spotted Stella wearing her white pearl dress, doing her highlights. I am really bad at makeup, If I were to do makeup perfectly I would deserve a noble prize, and it would be something that I would be more proud about....but makeup ain't my thing.
"There you are! How do I look, I don't look too simple right?" She asked when she saw that I was staring at her.
"Oh no not at all...you look gorgeous." I was kind of shocked that this was too simple for her if I were her I would take this as an immense amount.
However, I managed to get ready in 45 minutes, I took 5 minutes to put this fitted dress on me and 40 minutes on my curly hair it was a really hard thing to do, I finally gave up on myself and decided to take help from the beauty expert. Can't even manage my hair...when she was done with my hair I took a final look at myself in the mirror while Stella waited for me near the doorway. we both walked out, roaming in the hallway. I was actually struggling in my heels while Stella walked smoothly just like a girl running on ice with no difficulty at all. I couldn't balance myself it just felt like I was standing in the middle of a seesaw with two different weighed people sitting on both sides. The party was held in the common room which was downstairs. I managed to reach downstairs with Stella making sure I don't trip and fall making a fool out of myself on my way down from the stairs.
As soon as we entered through the door of the common room, I was startled by seeing the surroundings. A blue light hit on the ground as we entered the huge hall. People went mad, dancing like there is no end.
"Everyone's so energetic! I will leave you here now. Go make friends while I blend in with the crowd." She said that and vanished into thin air.
I roamed around awkwardly where drinks were kept. Felt uneasy thinking I had no one to talk to, I searched for Dylan and Aaron, my eyes roamed all over the room after few minutes of searching I finally found him dancing with Aaron and with few other girls. I felt like the odd one out. No one walked to me neither did I go and talked to them, the main thing you need to know about me is that I am very socially awkward. After a few minutes of standing like an awkward penguin, I decided to go in the breeze. After successfully climbing down steps with my enormous heels I finally reached the surface. I took a deep breath.I was always meant to be alone, I think that's how it will go from now on. I always dreamt about the tons of friends I did have in college and I was always so wrong. This is the true reality now that I actually see it. well it's only enclosed for some people including me.
I sat down on the benches outside college thinking that it is the best place to reveal my current awkward self by just sitting there and staring at the plants that were spread all over the soil in front of me.
Before I could even be in peace. All of a sudden, in my surprise I jerked from my seat as soon as I heard a painful piercing scream hit my ear drum, after realizing in a fraction of seconds that someone was actually in deep pain, I hopped off my seat and ran for rescue. The scream seemed to come from the backside of the college. I followed the scream wherever it led me.
My heartbeat echoed through me, my mouth as dry as a barren land, my forehead soaked in sweat, my eyes popped out after seeing a helpless familiar looking man on the ground. He was soaked in restlessness, pain and was miserable. Tears travelled flowed down my face. I just could bear to see that man in such pain. My hands trembled uncontrollably. I just could believe with my own eyes that he was the driver who dropped me and Dylan over here today. My eyes travelled to right which was a silhouette of a creepy looking man. He moved few steps forward while I moved backwards to reveal his face. His face was painted in white, eyes so dark that I was unable to see. No words could be thrown out of my mouth. I just stood there unable to move after seeing such a horrific face. He slowly moved his finger towards the middle of his mouth, indicating me to be silent.....
