Chapter 2
Day 2
We were sitting next to each other, talking, laughing, and sharing stories about each other. We were doing all the things I wanted to do with him since I first met him, while holding hands. His palm felt warm against mine. I never wanted him to let go. I wanted this moment to last forever; I wanted him to be mine. It felt so good with him beside me. My palms started sweating, I suddenly felt cold, lonely and I wanted to cry. I searched for his comfort, but it wasn’t there anymore. I turned to look at him. He was gone.
“Beep…beep…beep...” my alarm went off, making me jolt up in bed. I rubbed my eyes, forcing myself to get up. It was time to go to school again. “Sugar Beth! Honey it’s time to wake up,” my mom called from downstairs. “Come down for breakfast!” she added. I groaned, not being used to waking up so early. Coming down from the stairs, I could smell the familiar scent of pancakes and eggs being fried in the kitchen. I saw my mom standing there, cooking. It was unusual for my mom to be up so early in the morning; she would normally still be asleep at this kind of hour. It was only 6 am. Everyone called her Didie, short for Dorothy Dawn Carrey. “Good morning sweetheart,” she greeted, giving me one of those smiles I cherished so much. “Did you sleep well last night?” she asked, handing me some pancakes. “Uh, kinda.” I muttered. “I had a dream about guy.” “Really, and who exactly is this boy may I know?” she asked with a humorous and teasing expression. She always did enjoy our girl talks. I told her everything that happened yesterday, starting from my bumping into Mr Blue eyes, up to the moment I forgot to ask his name again. She laughed heartily after I told her. I like it when she’s happy. It made her look younger. My mom doesn’t look her age, she’s supposed to be 30 but she looked a lot like 24. It’s no wonder that a lot of young men find her attractive, most people say she looked like a model, considering she was really tall. Something I’ve inherited from her. But also with the way she held herself, she’s very graceful, something I obviously did not inherit from her. She had long Auburn coloured hair, and light grey eyes. Another trait she’d passed onto me. She had fair skin, an aristocratic nose, and full sensuous lips. Most people thought we were twins, something me and my mom always thought funny. Considering the age gap. “Well, who knows honey? Today might be the day you finally get to know his name.” My mom said.
“I hope your right mom.” I said, giving her a wide grin.
“Better hurry up dear, or else you’ll end up running late again.” “I’ll drive you to school this morning.” She said to me. I finished eating my breakfast then gave her a kiss before going up to my room to take a shower. This time I promised to myself if I get a chance to talk to Mr Blue eyes again, I’ll ask him straight out what his name was.
My mom drove a Black coated Chevrolet Trailblazer. Something she just recently bought. The ride was cheerful as always. We talked a lot about her work and about my first day at school. I told her about Annabeth and all my other classmates. We don’t keep secrets from each other. My mom dropped me off at the school’s front gate, giving me a kiss and before driving away for work.
Something unexpected happened next after that.
I certainly wasn’t expecting to see him so early in the morning. He was standing there just beside the front gate, wearing an expensive looking vest over a plain white loose fitting shirt and a striped necktie, with black denims, and Converse sneakers. It suited him perfectly. Just looking at him made me blush. It seemed like he was waiting for someone. I awkwardly walked towards the gate, hoping that he wouldn’t notice me. He was suddenly looking my way so I unexpectedly got shy and tried to cover up my face. It was useless. “Sugar Beth?” he asked. I let out a sigh and slowly turned around to face him. “Yeah it’s me.” I answered shyly.
