"i'll pick you up at five."
"ok, can't wait!"
i hang up the phone and check the time.
"3:30 pm, i have 2 and a half hours before ryan gets here," i say to myself.
i turn on my favorite spotify playlist and hop in the shower.
*4:50 pm*
i look at myself in the mirror.
the dress i once thought looked amazing on me now makes me look like a whale.
i hear a knock at my apartment door and can't help but squeal a little bit.
this is my first date since junior year of high school!
i open the door and see my date ryan standing there on his phone.
he is dressed in khaki pants with a blue polo, with some sperrys.
not exactly my type but it's fine.
"you look nice, olivia."
he doesn't look up from his phone.
"uh thanks, you too."

we get to a coffee shop and he walks in first, not paying any attention to me.
ryan orders a vanilla latte and i just order coffee with some creamer.
"what's your name?"
"ryan."
i notice that he doesn't even make eye contact with the cashier.
he hasn't even made eye contact with me!
"olivia, go find us a table. i have to piss."
i nod shyly, grab our drinks, and find a table.
"ma'am! you forgot your creamer!"
i head over to the counter and some guy with the name of louis hands me my creamer.
"thank you"
"of course darling," he says, winking.
my stomach erupts into butterflies and my face turns as red as a tomato.
i force a shy smile and head back to my table.

*7:00 pm*
i should've known that ryan would leave.
turns out he didn't have to "piss" but instead he left.
"hey, uh, everything okay?" the cashier from earlier asks.
oh my god, i didn't even realize i was crying!
"yeah, i'll be fine, thank you."
louis sits down in the seat across from me.
"he was an ass anyways."
i giggle.
"what's your name, love?" louis asks.
"olivia."
we chat for a bit until he needs to close the coffee shop.
"wait right here, i'll be back in a minute," louis says as he walks into the back of the shop.
he comes back out and hands be a bag.
"whats this?" i ask.
"you'll see when you get home."
shit, i forgot ryan drove me here.
"uh louis? could you possibly give me a ride?"
"yes of course."
louis opens the car door for me, closes it once i get in, something ryan never did.
i tell him my address and he puts it in his gps.
when we get to my apartment complex, we both get out of the car.
"it was lovely getting to know you, olivia, we should see eachother again soon."
"yes we should! thank you for everything."
we exchange numbers and he gives me a little hug, and climbs back into his car.
i unlock the door to my apartment and immediately change into pajamas.
i look inside the bag that louis handed me, and inside lays a bunch of food from the bakery section of the coffee shop.
he's so sweet oh my god.
im gonna text him.
