Andrew's POV
I was walking down the street to the store to go buy some milk since I remembered I had run out last week and got too lazy to buy it. Great I thought I should've bought the milk when I ran out. I was walking but then stooped dead in my tracks when I heard a faint yelling.
"Darren! P-please s-stop! You're hur-rting me!" I was tempted to go up to the house it was coming from to stop whatever was happening. Domestic Abuse is not fucking okay and no one should get beat by their significant other, even if the person abusing the other is drunk or anything of the sort.
I decided not to go because I didn't want to risk getting hurt or even having the person being abused getting hurt more for their yelling. I was about less than a block away from the store until I saw a man carrying a slightly younger man to a car. I saw that the male in the passanger's seat was very pale and I saw some blood coming from his mouth.
I got to the store after about three minutes and got the milk from the refrigerator, I walk to the counter and put the milk down. "Hey Tim! Ring this up for me please?" Tim nods and scans the milk. I hand him the change and thank him then proceed to walk home. I wonder if the male in the car was alright.
After arriving home I receive a call from my mom.
Andrew?
Hey mom what's up?
Andrew, you're father is in the hospital.
W-what? I-is he okay?
Andrew, please just come to the Mercywood Hospital.
I hang up and run into the kitchen and put the milk away. I run to the front door and grab my keys from the table. I get into my car and start to drive. I start to get worried. Is he okay? Did he get hurt? Did he have a heart attack?
I get to the hospital after about twenty minutes and go up to the lady behind the desk. "Hi, yes, I'm here to visit John Teller." I tell her with worry in my voice. She gives me a small smile and leads me to my father's room. I gasp at the sight of my father connected to all these machines.
"Mom?" my voice was shaky "Oh, Andrew." she looks at me with tears in her eyes. I start to tear up as well. "Mom, what's going on?" "Honey, you're father has cancer" I start to cry at the sudden news. "Andrew, I have to head to work but you can stay if you'd like." I nod as she leaves. I sit in the chair next to my dad. "Dad, please, I know you can make it through this." I then look out the door and see the girl from earlier. What's wrong with her? I see her in a wheelchair and see her try to stand but the doctor pushes her down and she gives me this apologetic look. I then feel something squeeze my hand and see my dad wih tears in his eyes.
"I love you, so much" then I hear the flatline. I start to panic. "No. NO! Dad.... no." I start to sob and call a nurse. A nurse comes in then walks out to call the doctor. "Time of death, 10:19 am. I'm sorry for your loss sir." He says patting my shoulder. I just sit there staring at the now empty room. "I can't believe he's gone." I stay there for a couple hours until a nurse tells me I need to go because they are bringing another patient in. I nod and walk to the waiting area to leave but then I notice something in the corner of my eye.
I turn and see the girl from earlier. I never really got a good look at her but now that I do she is stunning. She has stunning blue eyes. She has brown and curly hair. She looked familiar. Then I see a boy walk into her room then realized it's the boy who was in the car with her. I walk away and head to my car.
I unlock my door then close it. I start to sob and punch the steering wheel. After a couple of minutes, I calm down and drive home. I get out of my car and just collapse on the side walk. It's around three am when I see the girl from earlier, again. This time she saw me and started walking towards me. That is until someone yelled and she started to run away. I was going to chase after her but my body was numb.
I see the boy from the hospital run after her then they disappear into the darkness. After ten minutes of sitting on the sidewalk crying I see the boy that chased the beautiful girl from a while ago. He was walking to what I believed was his house. I then decided to walk up to my own house. I go upstairs and just fall onto my bed. After about a minute I fell asleep.
I wake up the next afternoon and grab my phone seeing that I had many missed calls and text messages. I see that my mom texted me.
Andrew, I already planned a funeral for your father. I'll give you the details later on today or tomorrow. I love you Andy.
I smile at the nickname my mother gave me as a kid. I see I got a text from Rocky.
Hey Andrew! I seriously need some help! A friend of mine came over and she randomly passed out and she hasn't woken up yet! Please help, her abusive boyfriend wasn't far from my house.
Yeah I'm on my way. Sorry for not answering last night some things came up.
Not long after that he replied.
Thank you so much! I really appreciate it! I smiled and got dressed. It was pretty chilly outside today. The temperature was 63 degrees so I put on my lucky t-shirt with my pajama pants with an 'A' and a blue star, then put on a light sweater and my slippers.
I walked downstairs and got a banana from the counter and walked to the front door and left. Rocky's house wasn't very far so I decided to walk. I walked past the girl's house and saw that some windows were broken but didn't question it.
I soon arrived at Rocky's house and was about to knock until I heard the shatter of glass coming from the girl's house. Then an angry male walked out with bloody knuckles and got into his car and drove away.
