I wanted to cry for him. I wanted him to know that I still loved him after everything he's done to us.
But I couldn't.
He just lay there, restless. Without a care in the world. He was gone, but it was honestly for the better.
*
After the funeral, my mother and I went home. She wanted to wait to pack his things, just to reect that he's still with us in heart, but I wanted to get it done.
*
"Cayden? Can you come here?" My mom's voice was breaking.
"What is it, mom?"
"I know this is sudden, but.. what would say to getting out of America?"
When she said "out of America" I was ecstatic.
"Wha- Where were you thinking?" I was in disbelief.
"Austrailia... Melbourne to be exact. Just listen, I got a job offer and-"
"YES. Mom, yes! I'll start packing!"
I didn't here what her next words were, I ran upstairs and starting throwing things into suitcases.
I couldn't believe that I was going to be getting out of this place.
'America, the home of the free.'
Bullshit.
*
I woke up to my mother shaking me.
"Dear, you fell asleep. Are you ready to go? I already ordered tickets for the first flight to Melbourne. You have 2 hours left in America. What do we do?"
"Couldn't I just sleep for the nexxt 2 hours?" I was exhausted. all that packing was tiring.
"Don't you want to go shopping? Get some new clothes for the new environment?"
I jumped up quickly.
"You should have started with that."
I looked at her and smiled. she stared at me for a second and dug around i her purse.
"Here.."
She handed me her keys and her credit card.
"..Mom.."
"The car.. it's yours. And the card is for whatever you need and want from now. No more asking for money. Just don't spend it all at once."
I jumped up and down excitedly and ran to hug her.
"Thanks, mom. You're the best. I love you." I kissed her cheek and gathered up my suitcases to one side of the room.

Where should I go first? Which stores are the best?
I guess this one will do.
I walk into the first store of the mall which read 'Hot Topic'.
"May I help you, dear?" I scrawny man came up to me. I'm guessing we had one thing in common. Boys.
"I'm looking for something new and stylish. I'm moving to Australia and need a new look. Could you help?"
"Well, of course, dear! Let's see..ah, here!"
He rummaged through some racks and pulled out a few pairs of skinny jeans.
A purple, black, and red pair.
"Now for the shirts.." He walked away sharply. "Ahem."
He called me over and I looked at the tops.
"Cute. Eh. Adorable. Definite yes. No." I was practically rating the tops, and picked up the ones that I wanted.
I saw something catch my eye. I looked over towards the shoes and saw a nice pair of galaxy vans. they were perfect. I picked them up and went towards the front desk.
The man started ringing up my items.
"Would you happen to have any beanies or hats?"
He pointed to a shelf across the room.
I walked up and saw a blood red beanie and chose it. It would go great with my new jeans.
"Cash or Credit?"
"Credit."
I pulled my mom's-uh, my card out.
"Here's your reciept, dear. Come back soon, if you're ever back in America!"
I smiled and walked out. I still had an hour left until my flight, so I decided to stop at the food court and order some Sweet and Sour Chicken fromt he local chinese place.
I sat down and ate. I stayed in the foodcourt longer than I expected. It was4:45. My flight leaves in 15 minutes. I gotta go!
*
"Thank god, I thought you were going to miss it!" I heard my mom yell from the door as I drove up the drive way.
I ran out and started gathering my belongings and shoved them in my car. Along with my mothers things that sat in the back seat.
*
We were in the airport.
"What about the car, mom? I can't possibly pack it on the plane."
"The airport agreed to put in on the next cart ship to Australia which is luckily 2 hours after our flight. It should be back in your possession within a week, dear."
"Okay."
I put my headphones in and walked onto the plane. This flight is so long. The whole time we were in the air and kid behind me kept kicking my seat.
I was so thrilled to be off that plane.
*
We've finally landed in the closest airport to Melbourne.
This is my new home.
