Chapter one:

I can't believe it.

I moved from the big apple, New York city to a little town in Illinois.

I stare out the car window with a sour look plastered on my face. Watching the many trees pass and little trailer homes holding small families.

"This is so cool!" my younger brother kaleb yells out taking pictures of passing scenery bobbing up and down excited. I almost gag at his enthusiasm.

"How can you even me remotely happy about this place!? It sucks!"

I cough out and my mother turns slightly looking at me sadly.

"I know you had many friends and loved New York but you'll make new friends here! Just imagine the amount of new boys here" she chuckles and i glare at her rolling my eyes.

"Oh great, filthy animals with the sorry title of male with the species of humans"

My mother frowns.

"Oh Catalina shut up!" My older brother nathan spits at me and i glare at him.

"Make me jerk off" my step-dad parks the car on the side of the road and turns facing me.

"Do you ever just appreciate things!? Everything is the end of the world to you! This whole time you have done nothing but complain and are always rude to everyone you come across!'

I sit up and furrow my eyebrows.

"Do you blame me!?? You just walk into the house and act like you're my dad and everything is perfect and at the last minute say we are moving! News flash spencer Im not going to be little miss sunshine!! "

Nathan glares at me and i stick out my tongue and plug my head phones in.

"Listen cat, we will let you pick your room first but please just give it a go" my mother pleads and i stare at her putting my ear buds in and blasting the neighborhood in my ear.

We pull up to a little two story southern house with a fenced in yard and small car garage. I sigh and stay put as my family gets out. I bring my knees up to my chest and turn on my phone pulling up a picture of my er..friend brendon and stroke his face on the screen.

The flashback from when me and him both confessed our feelings to each other pops into my head and i bite my lip.

Brendon whispers to me as my head lays against his shoulder. We had just ran to my house from the park in the rain and we were both soaked.

'Yes?' I ask looking up to him and he smiles lightly.

'Can i tell you something?' His face brightens lightly and i sit up looking at him.

'Always' he slowly leans forwrd and brushes his lips against mine and i remember my face heating up and breath leaving my lungs.

He kisses me lightly and holds my face with his hands laying his forehead onto mine.

'I love you...like alot....like hazel loves Augustus'

I giggle at his fault in our stars reference.

'Brendon, to be honest I've been waiting for your dumbass to say that' i lean up kissing him.

-end of flash back-

"CAT! EARTH TO CAT WE NEED YOU HERE AT EARTH"

My other brother brynn snaps in front of my face. I look aroumd and grunt realizing i was back in 'good ol illinois'.

I step out of the car grabbing my bags and walk into the house. I look up and point to the top room.

"That's mine"

I walk upstairs and walk into the room. It was small but big enough to be comfortable. It had black carpet and a light purple accent wall with a small window in the center.

After an hour and a half of me decorating my room the way i please i flop onto my black bed and my black blanket engulfs me.

I look around my new room from the posters of bands i listen to covering my walls and pictures of me and my friends i groan loudly.

"Why does this stupid shit always happen to me!?" I shout towards the ceiling and someone clears their throat.

I jerk up and look towards my door way and see my step-brother Nathaniel with his arms crossed.

"Because the world is out to get you remember?"

I smirk and fall back down looking up and sighing.

Nathan sits on my chest and i grunt.

"Dang this bed is not comfortable!" He smirks and i groan loudly.

"I c-can't breath nate please "

I get out and he falls back laying next to me.

"Get out i need to change so i can sleep"

He gets up grunting and shuts my door putting up a peace sign in the process.

I chuckle and grab some black booty shorts and a over sized misfits tee and jump in bed sighing into the comforter.

I hear a scratch at my window and i jump slightly looking towards the window. My heart starts beating rapidly and i suck in a breath scared to make any noise at all and i slowly walk to the window opening the black curtens fast and i let out my breath.

"Looking for me?" A raspy voise says behind me and my heart drops..
