The Champions Selection

A few days later , after the plates had cleared , the hall fell silent immediately, even though Dumbledore hadn't said anything. All the students knew that that day was the day that the three champions would be selected to compete in the Triwizard Tournament.

"And now, Is the time ye have all been waiting for, The Champions selection ", said Dumbledore, " If you are chosen , you will walk through this door and down the steps into the chamber below".

The Goblet of Fire's flames had suddenly turned a scarlet red and a piece of parchment flew out. It was kind of burnt around the edges and was rectangle.

" The champion from Durmstrang , Mr Victor Krum", read Dumbledore.
A loud cheer came from the table in which the Durmstrang students sat as Victir Krum walked up to Dumbledore. They shook hands and then Krum walked to the door and down to the chamber.

They waited a moment and then the flames had turned scarlet again.

Another piece of parchment shot out , this time circular with a hole in the middle.
" The champion from Beauxbatons , Miss Fleur Delacour.

A polite cheer came from the Ravenclaw table in which the Beauxbatons students sat. Fleur stood up and walked to Dumbledore, shook his hand and then followed Krum.

The flames turned scarlet for the third time and another piece of parchment flew out. My hands were crossed on my laps and I could see Willow looking nervous.

" The Hogwarts champion , Cedric Diggory", read Dumbledore.

I wasn't really listening I was imagining how it would be like to win the tournament. I suddenly felt arms wrapped around me and I realised I had been the champion.

"Ced, you did it", squealed an excited Willow letting go of me.

I walked up to Dumbledore, shook his hand and followed Fleur and Krum down to the chamber.

I reached the chamber as Fluer welcomed me and congratulated me.

A few minutes later Harry Potter slowly walks down the stairs and into the chamber. He just stared into the warm fire for a second when raging professors were heard running down.

"Harry , did you put your name into the Goblet of Fire"? asked Dumbkedore quite roughly.

"No sir ", answered Harry.

" Did you ask one of the older students to put your name in"? asked Dumbledore.

"No sir ", answered Harry again.

"Your absolutely sure"? asked Dumbledore.

"Yes sir", answered Harry.

"But of course ze is lying", complained Madam Maxime the Beauxbatons Headmistress.

"We will leave the decision with you , Mr Crouch ", said Dumbledore turning to Mr Crouch.

"He will have to compete, answered Barty Crouch , the Goblet of Fire has a binding magical contract , Potter has no choice , he is , as of tonight, a Triwizard champion.

After finding out that Harry had not put his name forward for the cup Barty Crouch started to talk.

"Now the tournament includes three tasks , the first will take place on the 24th of November, so be preparing for it".

After listening about the tournament I headed off towards the Hufflepuff common room to find Willow. It wasn't very difficult , I walked in and soon saw her running towards me.

" I can't believe it ", she said hugging me , " You got chosen ".

She kissed me on the cheek and let go of me. I smiled at her and thanked her. Everyone in the common room had been congratulating me all night long.

Once everybody had gone to bed, and it was just me and Willow in the common room I leaned closer to her so nobody could hear.

"Will, how did Potter's name get into the cup"?

"I have no idea , answered Willow , "it almost seems impossible , you saw what happened to Fred and George Weasley ".

I sniggered.

Fred and George Weasley had brew an ageing potion to try and put their names into the Goblet. They got passed the line but as soon as they put their names into the flames it threw them both of the parchments out and hit Fred and George , giving them beards.

Me and Willow stayed up quite late doing homework. Even though I didn't need to do any of the exams that year , Due to the tournament , I still had a bucket load of homework to do.

After what seemed like hours of studying I turned to Willow, "I'm knackered", I think I'll go to bed .

"Goodnight ,Ced , I'll see you tomorrow said Willow , "Oh and congratulations again on being the Hogwarts Champion"!!!

I smiled at her , leant down and kissed her on the forehead before turning around and walking up the stairs and into the boys dormitory.

I got dressed , got into bed and thought to myself , Hogwarts Champion , WOW!!
