Night of Shadows

Chapter one... Skylar

Skylar stood there in the pouring rain outside that dreaded door, her hand raised as if she was going to knock. She never thought she'd need to come back here. Not to this stodgy rat hole. She'd left this place and it's people far behind and never once looked back. Arobynn Hamel had caused her too much pain. Too much misery and sorrow. And now she was back here, at the assassins keep, asking for room and board. Never had she thought she'd stoop this low. She'd been standing in the rain for an hour. By now her hip length blue hair was soaked along with her black cloak, tunic, pants, and boots. The only dry thing on her were her blades. Five daggers hidden in various spots and two swords strapped to her back. She must have been scowling because when someone opened the door for her they jumped in fright.
"Archer. Where's Arobynn I have to talk to him." She snapped. Skylar was a whispered name around the guild. Everyone knew about the girl who had learned all of Arobynn Hamels tricks and even taught him a few. Everyone knew how she became so leathal and high beheld. Everyone knew about the girl who had once been named Arobynn's own, the girl he tried to adopt. Everyone knew about the girl Arobynn had feared enough to kick her out of the guild. Her name was whispered between members. If anyone was caught speaking about her, Arobynn Hamel, the King of Assasins, would personally punish them. So it was no wonder everyone gawked at her as she stalked in. As a young girl of only 19 it was rare to the visiting courtesans to see her being treated with the highest of respects. As she walked a boy who couldn't be more than a year younger than her caught her attention. He was handsome. His golden brown hair was short cropped and messy, his hazelnut eyes were warm and sparked with curiosity. He had clearly just come from training because his grey shirt was soaked with sweat and clung to him giving her a veiw of his muscular build. Their eyes met and she winked at him as she walked down to Arobynn's office. Before she could reach him however another girl stepped into her path.
