The sun shone through the translucent clouds and window into the pale house's living room. The room was adorned with streamers and balloons filled with helium, and a nearby table was topped with boxes wrapped in colorful paper, waiting patiently for the person they were meant for to tear away their paper-flesh and dig into their box-interior to reach what they held inside them. Pop music played softly in the background, and people singing came from the circle in the middle of the living room.
"Happy birthday to you," the song began. "Happy birthday to you. happy birthday, dear _____! Happy birthday to you!"
The birthday girl _____ took a deep breath and blew away the flame on the birthday candles atop her pastel blue- frosted cake. "I wish I'll finally get a cat!" She wished at the top of her lungs as everyone clapped.
"Shall we open the presents?" One of _____'s friends suggested rather slyly.
Everyone cried in joy and agreement. Another one of _____'s friends even said that her gift should be opened first. And open her gift first was what _____ did. She was handed the colorful box and tore away the paper messily in excitement. Once all the paper was stripped off, _____ opened the box without any hesitation. She gasped at what was inside, in both amazement and in shock. Inside was a stuffed animal neko...thing.
_____ picked it up out of the box in confusion and look at the giver, her friend Petra. She only grinned in response.
"Petra..," _____ started. "When I said I wanted a cat, I didn't mean a stuffed neko..."
Petra frowned slightly, rubbing the back of her neck sheepishly. "I thought it was cute, so I got it for you. Sorry."
_____ sighed; she couldn't be mad at poor Petra. She looked at the neko stuffed animal. "It's all right. In fact, I do think it's quite cu--"
_____ was cut off by a sudden sneeze. A horrified look then spread on her face and as well on everyone else's. No one in the room sneezed-- they would have recognized whose sneeze it was, so everyone's eyes landed on the stuffed animal in _____'s hands. Or was it even a toy?
Then, as everyone was wondering if it were alive, its eyes fluttered open, and it sat up in _____'s palms. It looked up at her with its black, beady eyes, which creeped _____ out to no extent. But as she stared at it longer, it seemed to grow cuter.
Breaking the awkward silence, one of _____'s friends screeched loudly, almost damaging everyone's ear drums permanently. "Oi!" A male's voice called, annoyed. But there were no males in the room... Once again, everyone's gazes landed upon the fluff ball in _____'s hands.
"Never make that noise again!" He yelled. "I could have gone deaf..."
"Uh..., _____?" Petra called.
"Yeah?" _____ replied, slightly weirded out, without taking her eyes off the neko.
"Are you going to keep him?" _____'s friend asked, and in response, _____ slowly nodded. Her answer shocked everyone, causing all of her friends' eyes to go wide and their mouths to hang open.
_____ looked back her friends with a look that said, "What's so wrong with keeping him?" Then she looked back at the little neko and asked if he had a name.
"Levi," he answered plainly.
"Well, Levi. I think you need a bow tie!"__________
Well this was a weird one... To be honest, this was actually a class assignment, I think, from a really long time ago. I really didn't know where I was going with this, but I just went with what came to mind...
So yeah, neko Levi... weird.
Sorry for any grammatical mistakes and if there's an ocassional Lilith I forgot to replace with a blank space! The main character's name was originally Lilith ^^;
