I was busy reading the session sheet while walking to the tutor centre, too oblivious to what was going on, that was until, my face collided with a hard chest.
"Ow!" I stumbled behind, rubbing my nose, that was probably broken and bright red by now. I looked up to meet the most beautiful set of grey eyes that I've ever seen, surrounded by thick black rimmed pair of glasses.
Not that I cared anyway.
"Watch where you're going! Are those glasses not good enough for you to see with?" I glared at him but he seemed amused by my rage.
"I'm sorry? Well, technically these are just for reading, not avoiding people that storm in here." He chuckled.
How. Dare. He.
"Excuse me?"
"You heard me."
"Oh I did, just giving you a chance to change your words." I curled my fists into a ball, he got a lot of nerve.
"No, I think I'm good." He spoke nonchalantly, shifting his weight from his heels to his toes. He stuffed his hands into his pockets without a care in the world.
I looked at him in disbelief. On any other day I would have applauded his comebacks, but who tries to mess with a girl who barely got enough sleep last night, let alone when the next day was a Monday.
"Whatever." I huffed, "I'm looking for some dude called Zachary." I snorted, at the name. "Who bloody names their kid Zachary? What is this? The 60s?"
"The guy with the 60s name.. that would be me?"
Whoops.
"Oh, you must be Alexis. The girl I'll be tutoring."
"It's Lexi. Don't call me Alexis."
"Okay, Lexi. Why don't we get started? I can teach you a few basics. I've helped a lot of students over the years. In fact, they managed to get a really good grade and I’m sure I could hel-” I covered his mouth with my hand. Could this boy get anymore annoying? He stood there looking at me with eyes wider than Brittany’s legs can go.
Oh snap.
"Look here Nerd, I'm not interested in playing teacher with you. So how about we just cut to the chase and you can tell Mr. Greyham you tutored me. That way you don't need to bother me and I won't bother you. Its a win-win for everybody. No one will have to know." I took my hand off his mouth and saw him visibly relax.
He scratched the back of his head in embarrassment, "That's not appropriate, just saying.
"And I don't care, just saying." I lashed out , crossing my arms. This boy is seriously starting to tick me off.
"Look, Alexis, I get it. You can't deal with the pressure of school and tutoring would just add to it, but if yo-"
"Whoa, whoa, can't deal with the pressure? CAN'T DEAL WITH THE PRESSURE?!"
He sighed, "Why else would you not accept free extra tutoring? Self-esteem problems?"
My face flushed red, self-esteem problems? I was a hairline away from blowing up and he stood there calmly shaking his head in disappointment.
I'd get back at him someday, I rolled my eyes at him, sighing loudly. I rubbed the bridge of my nose in irritation. "Fine, tomorrow after school."
I stomped out without waiting for his answer just as my phone beeped indicating I got a message. I pulled it out of my back pocket.
We got a deal, same place, same time.
