It has been a month since we moved here on our new neighborhood, and it has been a month since I saw Alex on that river bank. We promised to meet at the river bank every day, to chat, and to catch up with each other. Alex loved to paint, he told me that he was about to do his usual routine on Saturdays when he saw me sitting on the tree trunk by the river. He usually goes by the river bank just to paint the beautiful scenery there, he’d already painted the river bank at night, noon, and he was about to paint the scenery at the afternoon when we accidentally met there. It was Saturday today and we planned to meet at the river bank around mid-afternoon. I just sat and leaned on the tree trunk enjoying the chirping of the birds while Alex paints.

“What are you painting?” I asked. I was sure he could hear me because he was not that very far from my right.

“Something beautiful,” Alex replied.

I turned my head on his direction, but before I could even ask, he said, “No you can’t, I’ll show it to you at the right time,” he turned to look at me and smiled sweetly. All right that smile almost turned me into vapor, but I restrained myself. I stand up and walked towards him.

“No, no, no, I’m still not finish yet,” Alex exclaimed, I think he was kind of nervous but I still continued to walk towards him. I so badly want to see his painting.

“Just a little peek, please,” I begged. When I was about three feet away from him he swiftly went in front of me, making a boundary between me and the painting. I looked at him, trying my best to look sad and, let’s say pitiful.

“Oh, no, not that puppy-face Phoebe,” Alex said while smiling.

This is the right time I thought to myself, and I stumped onto his left foot and tried to grab the painting with my left hand, but he was faster that I expected, his arms were already around me, I was shocked and I lost my balance, we both fell on the ground taking the painting with us, me on top of him. I was really embarrassed, I don’t know why, maybe because I think I’m heavy, so I tried to stand up, but before I could push myself up, Alex enveloped me down to him again. He’s pretty strong, I tried to say something but I just stuttered.

“Can we just stay like this for like,” he paused, I could hear his heart beating so fast over my ears, “forever?” he continued. I felt hot, it seems like vapor was coming out all over my body.

From where I am, I could clearly see the painting that Alex was trying to hide from me.  It was a painting of a girl sitting by the tree trunk staring at the beautiful scene of a river bank in front of her.

Then I just nodded.
