Little sobs accompanied by light footsteps interrupted the quiet night. Stopping his research for work, Arima turned his attention to the source of noise, standing before him was a young girl. Automatically he saw how her eyes were bright red from either tiredness or from crying. From the way her eyes were droopy to the tears that stained her cheeks, he deduced that it was probably both. "What are you doing up, (y/n)?" The girl looked to the floor, almost like she was caught doing something she wasn't to be doing. A second later she pointed to her mouth saying, "My braces hurt." Tears were still pouring out of her eyes, and it was obvious how much she trying to hold it in. She was shaking a bit, noticeably messing with her teeth. Sighing quietly at her state, Arima motioned for her to get closer, "Where does it hurt?" (y/n) went up to him, answering as she sat on the couch next to him, "When I bite down it feels like my teeth are being pushed in my gums."Arima opened (y/n)'s mouth to check out her teeth. Soon he observed the green colored braces, checking to see if anything was broken or out of place, asking, "How about when you don't bite down?" (y/n) lightly tapped his arm, getting the hint Arima let go of her, "It's just sore." He had her show off her braces to let his eyes trail the wire that keeps it all connected. He saw the way it lined up perfectly with the out of place teeth that were risen, crooked, and spaced. On each took a bracket was placed, and for the sake of checking just to check Arima made sure there was no food lingering. He took his hand away from (y/n) to wipe them clean before saying, "That's probably because your teeth are shifting. Braces do straighten them out." She nodded in agreement but still complained, "I just want to take them off, it bothers me." Arima kissed her cheek, noticing hoe full her mouth felt since he was able to feel her braces, "I know. You just got them, so it's going to be like that for a while. Just wait, you won't be able to feel anything anymore." (y/n) sighed, leaning against the arm of the couch with her feet on his lap. "Get to bed, (y/n). It's already late." She turned her head so that it was facing the inside of the couch, "I can't it hurts too much...and I'm hungry..." Arima stood up being careful so that he won't hurt her and headed into the kitchen. "Why didn't you eat earlier?" He asked his daughter as she followed behind him. "I couldn't. Now that I have braces I can't eat as fast or much as I use to," she responded. The two stood in silence for a bit, with only the sounds from the city filling in the silence. "Remember you have to cut all your food and eat with the back of your teeth. For now I'm going to make you a shake for now, but tomorrow we're going to get you some food," Arima said getting out all the ingredients to make (y/n) her favorite milkshake. She grinned and sat down at the table, "Don't expect this every night," he said when he saw the excitement on her face. Laughing a bit, (y/n) nodded leaning against the table, "Of course, but I'm going to enjoy this." Arima smiled a bit and handed her the drink as soon as he finished. When he turned around though he noticed that (y/n) was gone. Hearing shuffling next to him, Arima looked to the left to find her messing with the coffee maker. "What are you doing?" he questioned, watching her rapidly moving around. "I'm making you coffee. So that we could drink together on the couch." (y/n) pushed Arima out of the kitchen, "Wait for me, I'll be back." Letting out a chuckle, he sat on the couch with her milkshake. After a couple minutes (y/n) finally came out with a steaming mug in her hands. "Here you go!" Arima took the mug, handing her shake to her. (y/n) plopped down on the couch, resting her head on his shoulder. "I really want these braces out." Sighing, Arima wrapped his arm around her, and kissed her forehead. "You're just going to have to suck it up. Only four years and it'll be off." Groaning at his words, (y/n) got up and walked to her room. "I'm going to bed." Arima smirked, "Don't forget to wash your dishes." She waved off his comment and shut her door once she entered it. Muffled groans came from the room after resulting in Arima teasing, "You'll get over it."
