I looked into her eyes and I could see the life slowly draining from them.
"That should be me," I thought to myself in sorrow.
As I was drowning in my thoughts a long, unforgiving beep startled me.
She flat-lined.
I lost the person dearest to me.
I had just lost my best friend.
As the nurses pushed me out of the room, my mind went dead.
When she died, a part of me faded, going into the inky blackness with her.
I was too lost deep within my mind to say goodbye,
to the person that took a tattoo for me.
