Chapter 25

Carmen POV

I see the reaping. Just when I think all hope is lost, I see a man volunteer for Primrose Mellark, who is my Mum. He has the same ashy blonde hair of Clifford, with the same chestnut brown eyes. Don't tell me that this is....

Katniss' eyes are trained on him. As I see Mum caress his face, he says,

"Primrose, I'm back."

Katniss nods slightly. I don't have time to ask when Peeta says,

"It's Cliff, alright. Cliff Lart."

That means....

"Carmen and Crystal, meet your Dad." Lexi murmurs.

Crystal is flabbergasted. With our dark hair and grey eyes, we barely look like our father. Clarissa has his blonde hair but has grey eyes. Only Clifford had inherited his look.

As Dad, Clarissa and Mum are brought to the Justice Building, the screen changes footage to President Snow. He continues announcing the names for the Capitol boys. When Lux's name is called, President Snow says that Effie is reaped. Effie is still our district escort. Snow says that she will train once she gets here with Dad and Clarissa. Finally, Snow smiles and says,

"Happy Hunger Games! And May the Odds be ever in your favour!"

As the screen flickers to darkness, Katniss collapses on the ground. She's out cold. Probably because of this. In the end, only two or even none of us are coming out alive. She's lost Clifford. Now she's about to lose 2 or more.

Peeta comes over to carry Katniss to the mentor's quarters. Just as I walk towards my room, I see the television screen flutter with light again.However, Serena puts me back.

"Go sleep. Those are for the mentors." She assures me.

As I close my eyes, I give a silent thought, hoping that tomorrow will be a better day.

Serena POV

I walk towards the television once Carmen is asleep, only to see a broadcasting for only the Capitol citizens. We had forgotten to turn off the television once the broadcasting ended. Probably was a hassle to tune the broadcasting to the whole of the Capitol but us. I guess they thought that we would turn the television off and go to sleep. But we didn't.

"As a special, we are adding someone extra into the Games to spice it up. The tributes have no idea of this. With each tribute, we shall send in a deceased family member into it. As the twins only have one deceased family member that can enter, we shall add in a living one. So, Primrose Mellark shall enter the Games. These revived family members and Primrose are drugged and are programmed to kill their family. They will die off once we have our final two. The Gamemakers also ask for more attractions that we can add to spice up the Games! Until then, Happy Hunger Games and may the odds be ever in your favour! And, to anyone that discloses this information, you shall be personally executed." President Snow booms.

I turn off the television. It flashes and fades to darkness. I go back to my quarters to see my schedule printed clearly on the board. Tomorrow's tributes, who are the Lart Family, will be having training from 9 to 12noon before they go to private sessions from 1pm to 4pm. At 6, interviews will start. I'm scheduled to style Carmen and Clarissa for the interviews. As I pick out their outfits, President Snow's words boom in my head.

Anyone that discloses this information, you shall be personally executed.

As these words boom in my head, I wish a silent prayer to God, to bless me for what I'm going to do.
