“Yeah, I am”, Danielle confessed.

“Do you remember who stayed in your room before you?”

“Shawn. You said you lost him”

“Yes. You see, Danielle, Shawn was my brother”, Charles choked on the last word.

      “I’m sorry”

“Thanks. Since you are a member now, I suppose you have a right to know”

“You’re not going to hurt me right? A right to know what?”

“Of course not! It’s time you know why we made this gang and who our enemy is. Listen carefully Danielle…”

Charles explained that years ago, their enemy, the Dark Dragon syndicate was operating a drug ring and they used to export drugs. This drug was an unregistered drug, one of their manufactures. The drug was originally LSD, a stable drug which has hardly any side effects when consumed. They used this as an opportunity and added chemicals of their own. The new drug that was produced was far more deadly and addictive, even worse than heroin and meth.

They needed to stay low so they used a man who had connection with the force as an informant and they paid him small amounts of the drug. Unfortunately, the syndicate didn’t know about the side effects the drug had and after about 400 grams of dosage only, the nervous system of the man started failing rapidly.         The poor man could hardly move, much less than get information from the police. The man was no use to them anymore and the syndicate had to kill him but he already knew what was coming so he told his wife. His wife came to Charles and pleaded with him to hide them. They agreed and placed them in a safe house a few miles away from the city and every night, they took turns guarding the house. This would all turn out well if it wasn’t for Shawn.

The syndicate grew desperate for another informant after the man disappeared. They knew that the man would come to them for protection from them so they needed someone to spy on us. They saw Shawn going to the market to get us food so they bribed him. They wanted to know where we were hiding the man and everything else there is to know. Shawn refused but they grabbed his arm and forcefully jabbed the drug into his veins.

Since then, he was hooked. The syndicate had to give him very little dosage at a time while they figure out how to make the drug less effective. Shawn told them where the safe house was and one night when Alex was on night patrol, they sent one of their men to assassinate them. We had to flee so we came here. Shawn got to his senses because of little dosage of the drug and when he realized what he had done, he took a knife out on himself.

“Harsh”, Danielle said when he had finished.

“Yeah and this was my uncle’s house. Shawn and I inherited it after he died in a shootout with the syndicate.”

“What? Did all your family members have some conflict with the syndicate?”

“Frankly, no but my father did. Felix, the syndicate leader thought about the drug idea before he died of a heart attack. He was on drugs which might explain the caused his death. My father was a member of the syndicate and was against this idea as he had no intention of becoming a drug addict. He left and told me and Shawn about this. Then, Felix realized that my father could report him to the police so he slit my dad’s throat. Shawn and I came here and told our uncle, who was a policeman. Felix realized this could happen also so he came here and a shootout began. We were hiding in a room when he got shot and by sheer luck, we were never found. So was his body as Felix ordered his body to be disposed. Since my uncle was rich and the bank was too far away to be visited all the time, we inherited all his money he kept here, his weapons and his cars out there. Of course, we have to do a raid once in a while to get more money for ammo and we happen to succeed in every one.”
