Im not going to say that it was one of those days where the sun shone brightly into my room and the warmth made me want to huddle back into my bedsheets. No I'm not going to say that because it wasn't anything close to that. It was the contrary, gloomy and thunder and lightning were seen and heard all throughout Phoenix.

I lazily climbed out of bed and stumbled down the staircase, smelly and all. I found my mother hovering over the stove, flipping pancakes up into the air much like a professional chef. From the time I remember she had always liked cooking. I was not sure about when I was younger but she always seemed to strike me as the cooking-type.

"Hey mom," I mumbled, breathing out heavily.

"Well good morning to you too." She said giving me a double take as she took in the hideousness that lay in front of her otherwise known as me. She hesitantly walked over to  me and gave me a hands-off hug. It was much appreciated nonetheless.

"I love you honey but you stink." She said as she pinched her nose with her free hand.

"Jee, thanks mom." I said most sarcastically.

"Hey I'm just stating the facts." She raised her hands up in a surrendering position.

I snorted in laughter as she continued to cook. My mother was the type of person who was laid back and couldn't care any less about anything that was said against her or me. She never took it to heart. I had always been an only child so she loved and protected me way more that needed. I loved her for that and appreciated it a lot but sometimes I'm just going to have to learn new things explore who I want to be without her nagging me from behind the whole time. She understood that but only after endless arguments that she decided to let me do what I want with my life.

She finally turned around with the finished pancakes in hand and placed them on the table that stood just two feet away from me. I situated myself on one of the seats and started to devour the aromatic pancakes. My mother placed the maple syrup in front of me and I snatched off of her hand before it could hit the table's surface. I poured it all over my stacked pancakes practically drowning the mass. I looked up at my mother who was shaking her head in dissaproval. I just smiled and continued to eat my food.

"When you're done eating like an animal why don't you go upstairs and brush your teeth? A shower would be nice too." She smiled.

I glared in her direction as if she was the prey to my predator. "What? A helpful suggestion always helps." She smirked.

After my meal, I did exactly what my mother had wanted me to do. I was showered and freshly scented like a lemon.

I made it a point to go to my favorite spot in the entire world. Or should I say woods?

There was this place in the middle of town that comprised of mainly trees and flowers. It was rather bright but it was like a second home to me. I loved the place. I'd been going there ever since I could've remembered. Althought some of the place was transformed into market places, it was still surrounded by trees. I always went to this spot because it was practically my best friend apart from Tarrah and Dimitri.

There were these group of people called "The Deforestation Haters" and they practically bailed on college too if I'm not mistaken. I vaguely remember them being in my senior class but they were there for sure. All they did was roam the woods, looking for something or SOMEONE to hate on. It was sad really.

I turned down many roads that were technically empty apart from a couple of people power-walking on the pavement. I avoided eye contact and kept on walking.

Approaching my destination, I noticed a small board nailed to one of the front trees. I moved in closer to read it:

"Adam Acres to be cut down on the 22nd of March. All property owned on this land will be taken away under government orders. Contruction to take place two weeks from demolition. Apologies given for any inconviniences."
