Once upon a time, there was a young and handsome fisherman named Jonah who lived in a small town called Salsus. As a child, Jonah would go to the lake with his friends to go fishing. Fishing was the biggest sport in Salus, every man prided on his ability to lure and catch the biggest and most beautiful fish in the sea. If you were the best in town, you were highly respected, and secretly envied by the other fisherman.

The lake by Salus was filled with many different species of fish, varying in different shapes, sizes and colours. The most rare breed of fish in the ocean was the Decorus. These mystical creatures did not compare to any fish in the sea. Not only was it recognized for its beautiful scales, which sparkled in the water. It was rumoured that catching a Decorus would provide longevity and prosperity to the man who caught it. However, it was seldom that anyone found a Decorus in the water, not to mention even having the opportunity of catching one.

A great fisherman was one who not only had the ability to lure fish using their bait, and more importantly, the skill to reel the fish up from the water. Although Jonah had never caught a Decorus in his life, he once saw one swimming around his bait. Jonah was so fascinated by the Decorus and fell in love with it almost instantly. He wanted to take Decorus home with him. However, Jonah was too scared that if he pulled the rod with all his might, he would end up with nothing. What scared him more than the disappointment of not catching the Decorus was the mocking he would receive from all his fisherman friends.

When Jonah had decided that he would attempt to catch the Decorus, the mystical creature had swum back into the ocean, and was nowhere to be seen. Jonah was devastated that he missed the opportunity of a lifetime. Crying a teardrop in the lake, he prayed to God that he would one day meet and this time catch another Decorus before he grew old

A few years pass, and Jonah spotted many interesting fish, but no Decorus’. Not even one. Thankfully, most of his friends had ever seen a Decorus, not to mention get a chance to catch one. However, his comrades were becoming better fisherman as the years went on, and he was afraid that if another Decorus came along, his friend would be the one who would catch it instead of him. More time passed, and still no Decorus. Jonah never forgave himself for letting one swim away. However, there was nothing he could do to change what had already happened. Hopefully Jonah would be ready to catch it the next time he saw one and would not let history repeat itself.

One hot and sunny August afternoon, Jonah decided to go sit by the lake to read his favourite book. Although he didn’t think he would find the Decorus in the lake, he brought his fishing rod with him. Just in case. After Jonah got settled, he put the rod in the lake and sat down to read his book. Lying against the trunk of a gigantic tree, Jonah fell asleep as the light breeze from the water went through his hair. Not too long later, Jonah started to wake up. As he opened his eyes, he noticed something familiar in the corner of his eye. Was it? …Could it be?! Yes, indeed it was. In the edge by Jonah’s fishing rod was a Decorus – one that was even more beautiful, and swam even more gracefully than the first one he’d seen. Jonah wanted to catch the Decorus and bring it home. Jonah would be ecstatic beyond words if he managed to catch it. However, he was scared he didn’t have the ability to successfully catch it. Jonah wasn’t confident in his fishing skills. He never realized how he continuously let his pride get in the way realizing the potential which was inside him.

Jonah had let the Decorus swim away once in his life. He now stares deeply at the Decorus in the water. Waiting. Would history repeat itself once again?
