My eyes fling open at the sound of an ear-shattering ringing and a deep voice whisper-shouting my name. I sit up and shake my fingers through my hair, coming to realization of who shouted my name. "Oh hey buddy," I say, with a groggy morning voice, facing Jayden. And plain grey walls, plain silver sink, plain silver toilet- same old same old.
I stood up and put on a clean orange scrub, not caring who sees at this point. After that I walked straight to our small window, covered by bars. "Day 30," I sighed. "See ya."
I hear a loud screech behind me, so I turned around to see Officer. Williams. "Come along with me. Your family is at the phone Center, where you'll see them for the last time for the next 2 years." He eyeballed us. "But before that, you'll need to get changed into your old clothes. We need to stop at the main office for those."
I make a slight grumble, but let out a smile. I touched everything I pass as I exit Cell 376. It's been a good time. "Use your feet to walk, Jade," I say, pushing him forward to continue walking.
As we walked down the halls, our shoes made a clicking echo. Shortly, I'd be in temporary comfort in my old clothes, I thought to myself. We had reached the main office. "Mr. Dels and Mr. Eastridge's clothes, please." Officer Williams demanded the secretary, Bob Portland. "See you, boys." Mr. Portland said to us as he handed us our clothes. Boy, we must have caused that man a whole lot of paperwork.
"Time to get changed, head to washroom section B. I'll be outside the door," he said, waiting for someone to lead the way. On the door was swear words scratched into the door, phrases including screw dis plaic. The washroom sign had said "oys," instead of "boys." I wonder who stole that b, I said in my head, laughing because I knew the answer was Jaden and I. I don't even remember where we put it after that.
"Ladies first," Jaden said as he pushed me into the washroom. "Dillholes second," I said, snarling my lip. We got changed back into our old clothes, I personally did much faster that usual. I just really wanted to see my family.

I stood with my eyes shut, not knowing what to do. Who do I hug first? What do I say? I asked myself. Soon I felt a pair of hands wrap around me, which belonged to my mom. "My baby boyyy," my mom said, holding onto the y and shaking her hand throughout my hair. I gave her a kiss on the cheek. "Hi mom. I've missed you," I whispered into her ear. She held on for a few seconds longer before she switched positions with my dad.
"Hey buddy. And happy early birthday, we're sad we don't get to spend it with you," he said, squeezing me. "Thank you dad," I said as he let go, switching positions with my sister. "Hey Laur. No boyfriends, right?" I asked her jokingly. She shook her head and gave me a tight side hug. "Bye, Ash," she said, letting go.
"Barbecue when we get out?" I asked Jaden's mom and dad. I could see Jaden's dad's eyes glaring at me, but I chose to ignore it, along with pretending his smile was real.
"Sorry everyone, but we need to leave. Say your last good-byes. These two will have to board the plane soon." Officer Williams stated, but I could see his eyes wanted us to stay. "I love you," I mouthed to my family, making a kissy face, what a toughie. They did the same back. I could feel my eyes begin to hurt, the pounding of tears hitting the back of my eye socket.
I followed Jade-who was following Williams- out to the car, which looks familiar to a cop car. Our doors opened for us, how sweet. I thought sarcastically. "Thank you." I said as I got in. One deep breath, two deep breath... it's like saying good-bye just to go back.
"You know, you boys will be missed at the ol' place. You kept it lively." Williams said cheerfully, like a happy old grandpa. Jaden turned to me with a smirk on his face and whispered, "Don't worry, we will keep this prison lively, too." I let out a small laugh without replying.
After several minutes of silence, I weakly whispered to Jaden as I blinked back tears. "I love my family, your family, man. It was great to see them, but it sort of makes you weaker. No more weekly visits or phone calls. We don't see them until we get out." I only took a second to glance at Jaden. I knew I would really start crying if I looked at him for any longer. "It's like we were teased; like dogs with treats. Hmm. I don't know," my voice trailed off.---
