The Mess That They Were

Chapter 1

Ellery's relationship with her mother had never been good. Initially when Maya saw the way her best friend acted with her mother she thought Ellery was she being her usual self but after some time she realized that Ellery had always been far too rigid, far too tense and far too distant whenever she mentioned her mother.

Ellery  and Maya were hanging out at the local cafe one afternoon when Ell bumped into her mother. Neither of them knew that she was in town . Maya thought it was odd that Ell didn't knew her own mum was in the town.

The look Ell gave her best friend was enough to tell her that she needed some privacy. So Maya returned to the campus and went straight to the library on her campus to finish her assignment.

In the last two years of high school Ellery and Maya had gotten quite serious about their future and started concentrating on their studies. This resulted in the acceptance letter from on of the most prestigious Universities in the country. Ellery had gotten a full scholarship considering her writing skills. While Maya parents were financially strong enough to pay her fees.

After three hours when Maya returned to her room , her mind didn't quite accept the scene before her. Eve was curled up in a fetus position on her bed and was crying her eyes out.

Maya was beyond shocked. Ell had never shown much emotions in the last five years and now seeing her like this was unsettling.
Maya quickly knelt down beside her.

''What's wrong, Ell? ''

When Ellery looked up, expressions were enough for Maya to not say anything but hug her with all her might.
Ellery's eyes were brimming with tears , mouth parted as she choked back a sob, the melancholia on her face was unforgettable.

Ell cried in her best friend's arms. She cried and cried and cried.

After almost half an hour Ell calmed down. It dawned upon Maya that she had to prevent whatever thoughts were flowing in her head to resurface . She had to distract her.

And what is the best distraction?
Well Col's parties.

''Enough with all the crying'' Maya stated firmly.

''Crying doesn't suit out. So quit it and get ready. Whatever happened today demands for you to get drunk.''

Ellery can't help but agree. She needed to forget the events of the day and alcohol would do just that. It would make her forget.

Maya got dressed into her black dress and put on some make up.
Ellery returned in a red dress and red heels along with red lipstick. To top it all , her dress wasn't just any dress it was the Red Dress. The dress that made Ellery look unearthly. With a sweetheart neckline and delicate patterns all over. She looked like  fire. Red hot fire

Maya instantly became self conscious. Maya never ever was insecure about her looks but whenever she was with Ell she just can't help feeling average looking.

Maya very well knew what a beauty her friend was but what she didn't understand is why would Ell , out of all people in the world, feel insecure about her looks .

When they reached the destination , the party was at its apex. It didn't get long for the two friends to get separated.

Ellery found herself walking towards the semi bar in the mansion. On the counter there were endless amount of drinks. Some in bottles , some in cups. She picked up the vodka bottle , unsealed it and started gulping it down .

Emir was standing near the bar a beer bottle in his hand . This is when he noticed a girl emptying the contents from a vodka bottle.
He watched, amused, as she drowned herself in  alcohol . He took a sip , than continued watching as she took another bottle and repeated the procedure.

After one bottle of vodka and seven cups of beer , she was completely wasted , she could not sit straight.
