(Hunters POV)
I awoke from a dream that I knew was a bad one yet I couldnt quite remember what had happened in it. I looked down to see jennifer layed with her head on my chest. I slowly moved her so I could get up and strech my legs. Everyone else was still asleep so it had to be early, I tip-toed to the of the ladder which lead to the roof and began to ascend. When I reached the top I saw David and Alexis (jennifers parents) sitting side by side in the camping chairs we had set on the roof. The pair were holding hands and hadnt noticed me. I walked over to them and cleared my throat "ya'know you have a blind spot" I said pointing to the west side of the werehouse that was behing their field of vision. The two looked at each other and then at me and Alexis simply stated "we were just having a moment thats all". I smiled softly and looked out at the horizon. I looked back at the couple and then at the clock on the side table.5:30 am. "how long have you two been up here?" I queried. David looked at the clock and replied "since around 2am so a few hours".
Both of them looked tired so I offered to finish their shift as they would need some rest. They gratefully accepted and climbed down the ladder.
It had been four days since we set up camp here and each day after breakfast a team of people would get in one of the trucks and look for food and survivors. So far we had found 12 survivors which brought our total to 20 people, this also meant that our small werehouse was becoming slightly crowded. I had expressed this point to Marcus yesterday and he said that me and him could go location scouting this morning while others looked for food. Theres a small town a few miles south so perhaps there will be some good buildings there.
My train of thought was interupted as I saw movement in east fields, I raised my binoculars and sure enough three walkers were headed toward our compound. They were slow so I figured they didnt know we were here.
Do walkers think? I mean I guess they do because they need food but is that all they think about?
I slid my machete into my belt and walked to the edge of the roof. I dangled off the edge and let myself fall onto the pavement below. I slid through the gate and walked out into the field. The group of walkers caught sight of me and started sprinting toward me. I stood my ground unsheathing my blade from my belt. I could see the dark dry blood stained on their clothing and skin. I waited a split second before I stepped to the side and brought my blade to the neck of the lead zombie and the head soared through the air hitting the ground hard. I spun round slamming the handle of the machete into the side of zombie number two's skull knocking it to the floor and threw my weapon at the third embedding it in the poor souls head. I strolled over to the motionless body and pryed my blade from the corpse with a satisfied smile.
That was simple.
"Bravo!" a voice called out. I spun around to see Jennifer looking down at me from the werehouse roof. "practicing for the ballet dear?"
I shook my head and chose to ignore her mockery.
"what are you doing up?" I asked
"i was looking for you, Marcus wants to see you"
"i'l be right there" I said and jogged back to the fence.
Once I was back inside Marcus called me over and sent Travis to the roof in my place. He smiled as I approached and directed my attention to the map he had placed on the desk in the corner. He pointed to a road that lead south and explained how we would be using that road to get all the way to the town nearby. I nodded in agreement and went to find Jen.
(Jennifers POV)
I climbed down the ladder from the roof and walked right into Travis.
"Sorry" I stated quickly and moved past him. He just looked at me without a word and ascended the ladder. I walked to room where the food was kept and decided to pour myself some cereal. I started munching away at the counter and suddenly two hands covered my vision.
"guess who" Hunter said playfully before spinning me round and planting a kiss on my cheek.
I giggled and offered him a spoon and the two of us finished off my cereal. when we were done I turned to him.
"so can I come location scouting with you today?"
Hunter tilted his head slightly like he always does when hes thinking.
"on one condition" he grinned.
"And what condition would that be?" I questioned.
"A kiss is required as passage on your journey" he replied in a stereotypical british accent. I giggled again and jumped into his arms and looked into his beautiful blue eyes, leaning in and kissing his lips passionately.
It was at that moment that Skyler walked through the door and pretended to vomit
"Get a room you two!"
Hunter broke the kiss and set me down gently before replying to his sister.
"oh right cuz you and marcus dont make out in public ever!"
Skyler flushed red at his sarcastic comment, grabbed an apple from the bowl and left the room.
(Marcus' POV)
I checked my bag to make sure I had everything I needed for the drive, food, ammo, flashlight and a few other items. Since Hunter had told Jennifer she could come with us I invited Skyler to join us too. She happily accepted an excuse to escape cleaning duties and ran to get her baseball bat.
A few minutes later the four of us climbed into my truck and set off down the motorway.
*Okay so I know its short again and not alot happened but that will change soon enough :) I hope you guys and girls like it so far and I will see you in the next update which hopefully be tomorrow morning :) *
