Episode 22: The Final Frontier

"It's time to meet your end!" Apocalymon laughed. He out stretched his hands, reaching to clutch Caitlin and Lapis first.

Suddenly, an Angel Digimon flew in front of the group and protected them. His handsome face turned to the blue haired girl behind him.

"I'm going to transport you all to safety, okay? I have some things to explain..." The Digimon turned back to the threat they faced. "Apocalymon, stop this!"

"Oh, Lucemon... such a poor, lost soul! If you'd only accept your true darkness and join me, you'd be spared!"

Lucemon closed his eyes. His body glowed and a large radius of light formed around the kids. In an instant, they were all in a building in the Digital World.

"What's going on?" Matt asked. His tone of voice hinted anger, but it held an underlying tone of fright.

"I am Lucemon. There's not much time, but here's what happened. While you were gone, Apocalymon managed to make the barrier between your world and mine separate. That's why Digimon are going to your world. Not only that, but NeoDevimon is almost fully evolved, as is your friend, and his partner, Groundramon. The world is going to crumble if you don't fight them off." The angel explained.

"We just got out ultimate levels back... How can we get to Mega that quickly?" Yolei asked.

"Not to mention the fact that Lapis is still healing." Caitlin said as she turned to her friend.

Lapis, the whole time, was staring at Lucemon. "You're from... My dreams.."

Lucemon tilted his head to the side, processing the words. "I've been watching you all, but I don't have the power to go into someone's mind like that."

Lapis couldn't shake the feeling she felt. Something was going to go wrong, soon.

"I can give you the power to digivolve to Mega." Lucemon said. "It'll drain all I have, and I might not survive, but it's worth it. You'll be able to fight off Apocalymon."

"Wait..." Lapis muttered. "In my dream.. You said you could help me... You could help me save Jesse..."

Lucemon tilted his head. "Jesse? Is that the boy with the Groundramon? Yes, I can help, by giving your Gaomon the power to digivolve to Mega. The only way to save your friend is to defeat Apocalymon. He's infected, I'm sorry."

Lapis sighed. She knew he was infected, it was only a matter of time.

Michaela grabbed Libby's hand and held it. "We'll save him soon, I'm right with you."

"Me too." Chase said. "He's my friend, too."

"And mine." Aubrey said. The four shared smiles with each other.

"He's infected, just like me." A deep voice said. Black tendrils rose out from behind Lucemon and wrapped themselves tightly around him.

The group gasped.

"Lucemon? What's wrong?" Kari asked, frightened.

"Lucemon digivolve to..." Lucemon became a tall humanoid with long blonde hair, longer than Matt's, and black, white, and gold clothing. He had five beautiful white wings on his right side and five black wings on the left. On top of his head were two ring-like horns matching the wings on his back. "Lucemon Chaos Mode!"

"He was infected the whole time?!" Tai gasped.

"This was a ploy to destroy us!" Chase said through gritted teeth.

"We have to move!" Cody yelled.

"There's no running. I'll scatter you throughout the Digital and Human world, making sure you'll never see each other again!" Lucemon Chaos Mode yelled.

"No, don't hurt them!" Lucemon said. It seemed as if he was fighting himself.

"He's still in there!" Mimi cried. "Lucemon!"

Lucemon fought with himself, good versus evil. The evil side shot his hand up and sent orbs of black at every Digidestined and their partners, separating them.

"I'll banish you all to an eternity of finding each other!" He bellowed.

As he sent the kids flying, the good side managed to send his own white orbs at the kids. The orbs clashed, sending several of the kids back to the human world, the rest going off in the Digital World.

Lucemon collapsed, the evil side laughing maniacally. "They are still split up. There is no way they'll win now."

The orbs crashed to the ground, breaking open. The kids and their partners were free.

"Is everyone okay?" Tai asked as he rubbed his head.

"Yeah, but not everyone's here." Davis groaned.

"What? Who's missing?" Ken asked.

The group looked around. All 8 original Digidestined were here, as well as Davis and his group. The only ones missing were Lapis and her friends.

"Look!" Sora said in horrified awe. The group followed her gaze to the whole in the sky. It was closing in, trapping those left on the Digital World from those here on Earth.

"What do we do? They can't fight alone!" T.K. said through gritted teeth.

The rip in the fabric of the dimensions closed, as if nothing had ever happened. Tai and his group were back home, safe for now. But what about Lapis and her friends?

Lapis groaned as she came to. Looking around, she saw her friends scattered on the ground. Aubrey was awake, shaking Chase to consciousness. Michaela was fixing her hair and Caitlin was just waking up.

"What happened?" The brunette asked.

"Where are the others?" Michaela asked.

"It looks like we were separated from them.." Lapis said.

"Well, we better do what we came here for. We have to get to Mega level. We can find a way to get Tai, Matt, and the others back here along the way. Our first priority should be to getting stronger so we can stop Apocalymon, NeoDevimon, and Lucemon." Chase said as he rubbed his eyes. He let out a soft groan of pain and looked around. "Don't you agree?"

"He's right.. There's not much else we can do." Aubrey sighed.

"Let's get going then." Lapis said as she stood. "We've got two worlds to save."

And thats it. If you guys want (or if I just feel like it) I'll start work on the second book, which is all about Lapis and her gang. Tai's group will make appearances in it, but not like this one.
