Look long and deep into my eyes
Now tell me, what is it that you see?
Can you see the pain that resides deep inside?
Do you see the me that I want to be?
Can you see the walls of my sanity crumbling?
Or are you even paying attention?
Would you become more humbling
If I were to tell you of my afflictions?
I'm afraid of the judgements to be passed
If you were to know of my true self
Would you still hold dear the memories of our past?
Would you keep that picture of me on your shelf?
Or would you shun me,
And refuse to recognize my existence?
Would you reclaim your keys,
Never again to lend me your assistance?
I don't know if I'll ever be able to tell you
How can I make you understand?
I don't want your views of me to become askew
So I'll just keep this to myself, locked in my head
