She Dreamt

She dreamt of a day,

where she could escape.

Wear a queen’s crown,

and a king’s cape.

She wanted a fierce lion,

as a fellow friend.

A dragon to ride,

and a kingdom to fend.

She wanted to live in a hole,

under the ground.

Have little hobbit feet,

that don’t make a sound.

She wanted to explore the wild,

where unknown things prowl.

Yet when she tried,

Her mother would scowl.

‘There’s no such thing,

As witches and wizards,

Elves and dwarves,

and fire breathing lizards!’

Yet she didn’t believe anything

That her mother ever said.

She dreamt all day,

On her comfy, warm bed.

One day she would be

As brave as a knight,

Soar through the skies,

Like a dancing kite.

But until then,

She was stuck in her room.

Ready to unfurl

 Into a world of doom.
