Chapter 14..... He's Back

Klaus

Marcel walks into the courtyard where I'm waiting for him up on the top of a cement barrier. “Taking me on a field trip to distract me. Pathetic. And,obvious, I taught you better than that” I said with a smile to him. “You taught me to protect what's mine. You will not take Davina from me, end of story” Marcel said.

“An immutable law of nature, Marcel, is the strong always take from the weak” “oh, if you were so strong, you wouldn't have run away from New Orleans like a little bitch, all those years ago”. I jump down from where I was standing and punch Marcel to the ground. “You've been playing king with a bunch of children for too long. Don't mistake me for one of your nightwalker lackeys, Marcel” I say with a smile.

“Why do you want her, don't you already have one” Marcel said “because she has power over you. I can take Davina anytime I like” I said with a smile, Marcel lunges for me, but he's knocked back down by Elijah, who has appeared out of nowhere.

Elijah looks down at Marcel “do forgive me, Marcel. If anyone is to teach my brother a lesson... it's me”. Elijah looks at me as I stare in shock at him, and I'm not too pleased to see him.

Rebekah pours several drinks as she talks to Hayley and hands me one. “I don't care if we have to get you a leash, that was your last trip to the bayou. What is it with you and those wolves, anyway”? “Ya” I asked agreeing with Rebekah “she's not the only one, you are crazy for coming with us”.

I ignored Rebekah as Hayley talked “I feel like we're connected somehow. I don't know. Maybe it's just some pipe dream that I have of finding any real family out there. But sometimes, when I feel like it's me against the world, it keeps me going”. Rebekah gives Hayley a sympathetic look and hands her a drink.

Hayley side-eyes her, and Rebekah suddenly remembers that Hayley is pregnant and can't drink. “ Oh, right” Rebekah says “I'll take that” I said raising my hand “aren’t you to young to drink” “honey I've killed vampires almost all my life” I say to her and takes the drink, drinking it.

“Well, if you ask me, family is a pain in the behind” Rebekah say as Hayley rolls her eyes and I smile. “And as for being in it alone, how dare you? I don't ruin a perfectly fabulous pair of boots traipsing through the bayou for just anyone” Rebekah says faking hurt.

“Its true, she doesn't” I said, Hayley and Rebekah smile as Rebekah downs her second drink. Our conversation is interrupted by Klaus walking through the front door. “Nik, finally, what...” Elijah walks through the door after his brother with a huge smile. “Elijah” Rebekah whispers to herself and runs to Elijah and hugs him tight.

Elijah looks at me and smiles as I sit down in Klaus's chair. Elijah sees Hayley over Rebekah's shoulder, and they smile at each other, though Hayley leaves the room right after. “Elijah! You're safe! Now that you're home, is your first plan to kill Niklaus” Rebekah asked.

“Um, no, that's my job” I say raising my hand having another drink in my hand and drinking it. Elijah smiles “excuse me, just a moment” “where's he going” Rebekah asked as Elijah walks out the back door to find Hayley, who is standing on the back patio. “You're back” Hayley says to Elijah looking at him.

I stand next to the door but they can't see me “I'm back” Elijah says with a smile. They look at each other for a moment, and then Haley slaps him in the face. “Don't make promises you can't keep. Welcome home” Haley walks away as Elijah touches his face where she slapped him, and smiles to himself.

“Well looks like she showed you” I said coming out of hiding as Elijah turned. “Why do I feel like she got that from you” “because I was the one who almost always would say “don't make promises you can't keep”. Elijah smiles “is everything ok” Elijah asked me “ya, I'm not connected to Marcel” I said “good” Elijah said.

“Elijah” I paused “I'm glad you're home” I said and started to walk away but Elijah grabbed my arm. “What is troubling you” Elijah asked concerned, I sighed “I think I'm starting to develop some sort of feelings”. “For Klaus” Elijah asked with a small smile as I sighed and looked at the ground.

I looked up at Elijah “no, for you”.
