All-Nighters

I haven't slept and I don't want to

I don't know how many hours I'm onto

Of staring at a lifeless screen

Symbols flash; I don't know what they mean.

I'd take a chance and roll the dice

What will I dream of now, tonight?

I'd really rather not find out

I'll dream of fear and crippling doubt.

Inspiration comes from unlikely places

Glazed eyes and expressionless faces

Who knew the things that words could do

When pen meets paper to tell what's true?

I haven't slept but probably should

The world went blurry when I stood

Fatigue weighs heavy on my shoulders

I'll hope my dreams do not get colder.
