"come on harry my mum is gonna kill me!" louis shouts to harry who is in their shared apartment taking his god damn time getting ready. they are going to brunch with louis' mom and stepdad because they are so happy harry and louis 'finally started dating after a million years'. it's kinda true though.
louis and harry have been friends since third grade when harry moved to america, and louis was so happy to finally have a british friend. they became close instantly and promised to never leave each other's sides.
middle school was rough for the both of them because they were bullied and called gay (which totally shouldn't be an insult) every day.
well they actually were pretty gay. they found out in high school when they went to a party. there was a wild game of truth or dare and louis was dared to kiss harry. and boy did it feel just right.
harry was confused about his sexuality for the longest time, so the boys didn't end up dating until after they graduated. harry had a few girlfriends throughout high school because he was so scared to admit to himself that he was gay.
one day harry came over to louis' house and started sobbing because he didn't know how his parents would react if they found out he was gay. louis held him close and said very softly, "listen harry. i know exactly how you feel, and it hurts me knowing that you're hurting. all i want is for you to be happy. listen, if you're not ready to tell your parents you don't have to. i'll come out to them first and see how they react. if they go crazy then i'm gonna steal you and let you stay with me forever. if they are okay with it, which will probably happen, then you can know it's safe, and you can know that you'll be okay. harry, you're the best friend in the world, and i hate seeing you in pain. that's why i want to do this for you. because i love you." and then they kissed, properly, for the first time.
louis did come out to harry's parents, and they were perfectly fine with it. so a few weeks later, harry came out to his mom and dad. and they still loved him the same. which harry was so thankful for.
they later graduated, and when the two boys' families and the boys went to a restaurant for a celebratory dinner, things finally worked out for louis.
harry stood up and said, "louis, you are the greatest best friend anyone could ever have, and i'm so lucky to have you in my life. thank you for helping me come to terms with my sexuality, and thank you for helping me come out to my supportive family. i'm so happy we got through nine years of school together. i'm also happy because being with you has resulted in the best times of my life. this is really hard to say because i don't know how you'll react, but, louis, i'm in love with you. and it sucks not being able to kiss you and hold you whenever i want because we're not dating. i want to change that. lou, will you be my boyfriend?"
louis was in shock. he couldn't believe the boy he loved was also in love with him. and he announced it in front of his whole family. everyone was staring at louis waiting for his answer. of course, louis said, "yes. yes. a million times yes. i love you too harry." he also stood up and kissed harry in front of both of their families.

the boys have been dating for a few weeks now, and they are so happy together. they live alone in their two bedroom apartment. they don't know why they have two bedrooms when they sleep together every night anyways.
louis has been waiting in the car for at least twenty minutes, frustrated because his mom is going to kill him for being late. after a few minutes, harry finally runs out of the apartment and rushes into the car.
"harry you know my mom hates it when we're late." louis tells harry as he drives over the speed limit to get to the restaurant.
"i know i'm sorry lou, but there was a spider in the bathroom. you know i'm deathly afraid of spiders. i was sitting on our bed contemplating whether or not i should go in there and kill it, or wait it out."
louis thought to himself, 'well you obviously fucking waited it out'. louis is both pissed and happy because his boyfriend is the cutest in the world.
"i'm really sorry lou. i'll tell your mom it was my fault. because it was."
"no harry, you don't have to be sorry. i overreacted. i do that sometimes. i'm sorry for getting mad at you. god i can never stay mad at your adorable fucking face." louis says while smiling. harry grabs louis' hand, and laces their fingers together. "you know i love you right? so much. you're my world harry. i never want to lose you."
"i love you too lou. with all of my heart. i also love how you're the biggest sap in the entire world." louis laughs his beautiful laugh, and they finally make it to the restaurant.
louis' mom and stepdad greet the two boys with a hug and a kiss on the cheek. "so what took so long?" louis' mom asks with a smirk.
"mom, it was nothing like that! we just overslept." louis says to his mom who smirks again.
"and why did you oversleep huh?"
"we were watching a movie last night. a scary one. we couldn't sleep, and if we did, we would've died!" harry says, over doing it a little.
louis' mom laughs, and the happy family eats their brunch.

when the boys finally get back to the apartment, they are exhausted. they decide to have a little jam sesh with the piano. both boys are very talented singers and songwriters. they keep it to themselves though, because it's for their eyes and ears only.
louis is playing the piano while harry sits on top of it singing his heart out. they're singing a song harry wrote called 'just a little bit of your heart'. he wrote it when louis was dating a girl back in sophomore year. his favorite lyrics are "i know i'm not your only, but at least i'm one. i heard a little love is better than none". he knew louis loved him, but he had someone else to love.
after singing a few more songs, it's almost 10 pm. and the boys head to sleep. they lie down on the bed, louis attached to harry's back. "goodnight harry. i love you so much. i probably say it too much, but words can't explain how much i'm in love with you. that's why i think we should get tattoos tomorrow."
"louis what the hell. we've been dating for 5 weeks!"
"yeah but we've technically been together for years. ever since we kissed. so yeah the appointment is tomorrow at 4. be there or be square."
harry laughs. "what kind of tattoos are we getting exactly?"
"you know how in paris they have that place with all the locks, and all the couples throw the key in the water?" harry nods. "well i was thinking that we should get a lock and key."
harry turns to look at him. "can i get the lock? because you hold the key to my heart."
"and you say i'm the sap." louis laughs. "of course. whatever you want babycakes."
harry smiles, and they both fall asleep, holding each other.
