Chapter Three

Alena POV
I woke up to banging at my door I know it's my dad he gets like this sometimes when he gets really drunk but the bar kicks him out and then he comes home drinks the beers in the fridge to. Then comes up to my room so he can let out his frustrations I open the door for him I know what your think why open the door well because if I don't then he'll either. Break it down or wait until morning and then he'll beat the crap out of me and make me stay home from school with him so he can abuse me more durning the day. So I rather take my chances with just opening the door. Right when he walks in he pushes me to the ground he gets on top of me. He starts punching me and slapping me while he says its all my fault that mom died and saying you should have died not her. But he's retard because I wasn't in the car when it happened. I don't take any of these insults that hard anymore but there still a little pain like put salt on a closing wound. He gets off of me and kicks me a couple times in my ribs before he leaves I try to get up but I just crawl to my bed and lay there. I turn my head to see the clock and it reads 4:50 so I sit up which just made me hurt even more and take out the aspirin and water bottle I have in there for days like this. I take two and take a big gulp of water so I could go to sleep with a little less pain. After that I crashed out and woke up to my alarm ringing it was seven-forty-five I carefully tried to get up and got to the restroom so I could take a shower I took a quick shower and got out. I had a black eye and bruises on both my checks and I think he fractured two my right ribs and three of my ribs on the left. I wrap my ribs tight but not to tight and then I put my light washed blue jeans and black shirt and put on my knitted black sweater over my shirt. And grab my Nike black and white shoes. I make sure to put my make up bag in my back pack and head down stairs I hear my dad snoring in his room so I go. And get something to eat in the kitchen turns out my dad has been buying for for himself. I found orange juice and cereal so I ate it quickly and quietly it felt good to eat a meal for once so. I finished and grabbed a banana and granola bar for lunch and a water bottle. Eating food is great but eating food at home was something that I missed a lot I got out there fast before my dad could wake up. Before I left the drive way I put on my foundation all on my face be made sure to cover my bruises and my black eye. And take off to school running late but hey I wouldn't care running late if that means eating so I walk to my locker. To get my book for English and my notebook and head to class with seconds to spare I walked into class and some people stare but other just don't care. So I go and sit down next to hope she asks me why I'm so late but I just told her woke up late which is sorta true. Mr. Jackson comes in and starts talking about our project and the book for it he gives us some clues about it. Time passes by fast and the bell already rings for second and then the next thing I know it's lunch time. I bring out my banana and granola bar and water bottle for lunch it might not have been, much for other people but it's a lot for me and considering I ate breakfast. I get a text durning lunch and see its James asking me why I was late for first period I told him the same thing I told hope. I start talking to the girls at the table and asking hope how her project with Lucas is going. She's says it's going fine but he told her he will not read the book that she has to read it for him but she doesn't, want to read it again so he knows the book. I told her just make him get the audiobook so someone else can read it for him she told me thanks and she'll do that today. I was about to ask Jessica about her project when I felt my phone go off and it's a message from James. Asking me if I'm going over to his house I told him yes I go back to talking to Jessica she has Alex. For the project and says he really helpful more then she thought he would be I told her that's nice. The bell goes off and I get up and throw my banana peel away and wrapper once I got up my ribs hurt like hell getting up. And moving around hope saw me hurting getting up and asked but I just told her I hit my side on my bed post and have a bruise. I took a breath before I turned around from the trashed can and then, I saw James standing in front of me. I told him I'll meet him at his house in ten minutes so that we can work on the project and he said okay don't get lost. I walked out of the cafeteria and to my car and drove there in time but he was already waiting for me no doubt. Speeding to get here before me on his bike but I guess you could do that when your rich with a perfect life. He had that idiot smirk on his face "wellll wellll,wellllll look who broke, the speeding limit to get home terrible thing to do mr.Anderson. Yeah well I couldn't very well have a guest waiting for me but nonetheless do come in. Yeah,yeah just remember dads money and that face only gets,you so far the rest is up to you Anderson. Low blow Rodriguez on daddy's money I'll have you know that I help him on weekdays with his company so you know some of his success is to me. "Well I'll give you that some of it does but most of it is because of me because you know I'm the one who founded it." Jason your here I didn't think you'd be here from what I've heard is that your a pretty busy man and not always around which I respect I mean hard work pays off just look at this house. "Well thank you Alena and it's true I'm not here all the time but it's to make sure James has anything he needs and I'll try to be off more got, to check up on him make sure he stays out of trouble and your welcome here anytime." No need dad got anything I could possibly need and that doesn't mean I need you anymore so your welcomed to go back to work now it's what you do best anyway. You should count yourself lucky James a roof over your head food to eat anytime your hungry and a parent that provides for you. And loves you because you know there think about you ever second there away from you some people have there parents at home but are not even sure if they love you then be great full James. You Don't know anything about me or my life and what I've had to go through so don't talk to me like you know me Because You Don't! James goes and runs to stairs to his room. "I'm sorry Alena he's been though a lot and is broke more then he cares to admit, I'd tell you why but it's more of a he'll tell you when he's ready to tell you type of thing." I understand completely I have a few of those, well then I'm going to go check on him and see if he wants to talk or just work on our project. " Okay then yell if you need anything and don't be to afraid if he breaks anything he won't hurt you if there's one thing I taught my son anything is never lay your hands on a women." Thanks bye Jason I go up and give him a hug for support and a good bye if I don't see him before I leave. I grab my bag and go up stairs before I get to his door I hear him throw something at the door I knock but he doesn't seem to hear me so I bang on the door. And he opens up the door yelling at me thinking it's his dad and he doesn't want to talk to me. James its me now can you calm down and let me so we can talk. "Oh sorry yeah come right in sorry about the mess and for being really mean and scary." Don't worry about it James I've seen worse messes and worse scary then you, now do you want to talk about it or work on the project. And if you say you want to work on the project then I'll respect your privacy. "Thank you I'd rather just work on the project maybe when I know you better I will tell so what do you know about this book." I actually know quite a lot it's one of my favorite books it's about the author telling us a story about this couple who face a lot of challenges. In there relationship and they fight a lot because of it so the author compare there relationship to a rose nice and beautiful but have thorns. "Wow you know so much about this book I've read half of it already so I understand it." That's really great Anderson I'm happy I got you as a partner you seem a lot better then Lucas, hope says he refuses to read and says he wants her to read the book to him. But Alex seems nice Jessica says he's been a really big help and has read the book on his own but I haven't had, a chances to talk to Melissa yet I heard she has Adrian as a partner. "I'll ask Lucas to calm down and read the book himself and I knew Alex would be helpful that's the way he is but Adrian is kinda difficult when he wants to be. And I'm happy I got you as a partner for ever project Madison has always been my partner and it gets boring. "She talks about stupid stuff and no other girl is brave enough to ask me to be there partner so it's either me and her or me with one of the guys." Come on Anderson you know you guys like being feared to bad it doesn't work on me or those dumb. Smirks you guys have on your faces when ever you see a girl drooling over you like your Gods and I was almost tempted to runaway when I saw. Queen b**** face and all the time when I was walking up to you was this guy better be worth it and he better not be an ashore to me. "Well then Rodriguez am I worth it or an ashore to you and don't worry about Madison she's pretty harmless." Hmmm, it will seem you'll be worth it when I hear embarrassing stories about and your doing a pretty good job, of treating me nice. "Well I'm glad that someone in this school doesn't find me terrifying and there's no way I'm telling you embarrassing stories about me." I know but your dad might with that I took off to go find Jason. I heard James coming after me so with that I ran faster, but not fast enough because James tackled me to the ground. Ahhh I need help a million ton bolder in on top of me crushing me. "Hey I'm not fat." He touched my face but I wince back scared and I didn't want my face to hurt more. "What's wrong Alena are you okay did I do something wrong do you need help." I'm fine James really I am and can you get off of me you may not weigh a lot but I hurt my side this morning and still hurts pretty bad. "Right sorry let me help you up."  Okay how about we go work on the, project and I'll wait to hear these embarrassing stories later. "Yeah let's go" he grabbed my hand and sparks were felt.and butterflies were in my stomach. Okay it's says we have to answer these question but put it in a power point and write an essay can you pull out your laptop. "Yeah it right on the desk" okay now let's open up and get started I answered most of them since I told James he could go and finish reading the book. Okay Anderson its ten minutes till six I have to head off to work you think you can finish the PowerPoint tonight or tomorrow? "Umm I'll try to finish it tonight but you might have to look over it tomorrow" that's fine I'll be here tomorrow any how so I'll check over it. I grab my bag and we go down the stairs together. I'll see you tomorrow Anderson go get to work"I will but, hey Rodriguez don't work to hard" when will you see James I always work to hard. I get in my car and drive away when I get to the coffee shop it's full of people so I quickly get to work. By the time everyone is happy and out the door and the place is cleaned up its midnight closing time thank goodness. I jump into my car and head home once I get home I see my dads truck. Feelings very tired but I just don't care I walk into the house but did a terrible mistake I didn't close the door. Quietly so it slams and then I hear my dads door from his room open I try to race to my room but no such luck. He catches me "what are you doing just getting home probably just being a slut and working, you little slut who did you do this time". I didn't do anyone I just got off of working at the coffee shop please let me go "no your being a little slut working as hooker" he pulled out a knife and cut me on my shoulder. And arms and left an three inch cut on my stomach which I think it needs stitches finally he gets tried and he goes to his room. I crawl, walk and hop to get to my room I go to the mirror in the restroom and strip into, my under clothes and look at the damage. Cut on my stomach a few cuts not much on my arm and that's all. I know for sure I'm not giving myself stitches so I'm going to the hospital tomorrow morning before school hopefully I won't be to late to class. Uh I can't wait to turn eighteen on Monday then I'll be legal to get out of this place. I put band aids on my little ones and then I put enough bandages and cloths to last me until morning it mostly stop bleeding. So I put on my sleeping shorts and a tank top and I clim into bed I set my alarm a little earlier. And go to sleep praying that he doesn't come knocking on the door.
James POV
Poor Alena she seemed to be in pain today I heard her and her friend talking and she says she hurt herself on the bed post. I was message her durning lunch and the guys kept asking me who I was messaging and I just ignore them. Alena put her phone away and she told me bye I was a little disappointed that I'm not talking to her anymore, but got over it knowing I'm going to see her after lunch. I look up from my phone and see all the guys looking at me and I just know I have my real smile on the guys have seen it but rarely. "What stop looking at me it's creepy you know" well boys I think are boy James here is happy and actually smiling and it's something to do with his phone. "Shut up Lucas no it doesn't why can't a guy be happy" oh come on James we all know you better then that grab his phone. With that all hell broke loose Adrian and Alex held me down and Lucas grabbed my phone sucks for them. Ever since I've be been messaging Alena I changed, my password on my phone since they knew my old one. After they got the phone they went back to there seats and I went back to eating my food. Guys the password isn't working this little dick changed it come on James what do you have to hide. "Sorry guys might as well give up because I'm not giving up my password." Even if there's only a few messages from Alena which aren't really much telling them my password would mean. I've had to tell them it and it's kinda a big deal because I changed my password to Alena initials. So it's a capital AMR Alena Marie Rodriguez and then they would just make fun of me and not shut up. They gave up and just handed me back my phone I go and throw away my trash and told Alena to meet me at my house. She's so weird and different then the rest it's refreshing and maybe I did break a few speed limits but I didn't get caught and that's the important thing. I thought we were going to have a great time but no my dad had to be there and then they start talking and forgetting I'm there. So when she said something about my life but true with her angel voice I just exploded and they stormed away. And went up stairs to my room and start breaking things I thought for sure she would have left and my dad would be the one to come and talk to me. But no it's not it's her with her beautiful face and lovely voice telling me to calm down so she could come in. I calmed down a bit when she told me to and then she placed a hand on my shoulders and looked into my eyes and told me again to calm down. I just couldn't stay mad anymore not at her or my dad and my eyes just soften with just, one look this girl calmed me down. When only my mom and very little times dad could and friends so we didn't talk about it she said she won't push me. So we just got down to working on the project she knew a lot about the book and she mostly worked on the PowerPoint while, I finished reading the book. I just finished it when she got up and told me she has to leave for work so I was sad she had to leave already. But she asked me to finish the power point I didn't want to because then she won't have an reason to come over anymore. She packed up all her stuff I pulled her down stairs right when our hands touched I felt sparks and butterflies in my stomach, I didn't look at her and just kept going she got into her car and drove away. I went back to my room and finished the power point but made sure I got a few wrong, so we would have more time together at my house. I called up the boys because it was already seven asking them if they wanted to come over and have Chinese take out and a game of basketball. All the guys end up at my house we all played Lucas on my team and Alex and Adrian on the other. Me and Lucas won 21-18 it was awesome we all started to eat and I started asking the guys about how there projects are going. Lucas basically told me why Lena told me and he wasn't going to read and I told him quit being. A pussy and read the dam book and to help hope and Alex told me he's doing great and helping a lot which is the same thing Alena told me then I asked. Adrian how's his going he says he read half of it and help out on the power point "that's good boys happy to hear that your helping your partners out". I'm mostly happy because Alena would be happy that her friends are being taken of and aren't being used to just do the projects without there help. Why do you care James you never did before and you have this weird look on your face that says yes,yes master would be please with my work. Aww I think our boy James have been getting a little, crush and he wants us to be nice since his crush is friends with our partners. "No I don't" look guys he's blushing I called it. "Shut up Lucas can you just read the book" I'll read the book and help with all the project if you admit that you have a crush on that girl Alena. "Fine but you all have to promise to be helpful with all the project no complaints they need your help you do it got it" all of them said yes and promised. "Okay I James Carter Anderson have a crush on Alena Marie Rodriguez happy now I admit it now all of you go home it's already late". That's all we wanted they all took off and I got ready for bed I brushed my teeth and stripped and laid down. I kept going through all the memories of today Alena how I touched her face and she was happy to have me as. A partner and how even an simple touch could make me go crazy and calm me down but mostly got me was how she wasn't scared I was going. To hurt her but I did see a little scared in her eyes like I might attack her but I know for sure is whatever makes her scared. Or even hurts or even try's to hurt her. Will know pain on a whole different level and that my friend is a fact. I fell asleep knowing that this lovely Beaty is melting this cold hearted beast heart.
