Hey guys, it's me again. Yes, this a continuation of the last chapter, Survival. My friend who is also a fellow writer, and I are doing these Write Offs between each other. Basically we give each other a prompt or idea and we have to write something that involves that within a certain number of days, and she decided we were going with the dystopian society theme!

So I hope you guys enjoy this as it was actually pretty fun to write but also challenging as well. But that was the best because it challenged us to try something that we don't normally write about.

So yeah, if you do like this please don't be afraid to comment below and vote. And if you guys have any suggestions as to what kind of topic you want to see me write about, please leave them in the comments and I'll try my best to write them. Things like, awkward first date, dating the best friends brother, the forbidden relationship, etc. Or if you want me to revisit a couple. Alrightly then, hopefully I'll see y'all soon with another chapter!

The next morning I woke up with my face in a pillow and at least three blankets covering me. The whirring of a fan motor creaking each time it turned. Pushing my hair out of my face, I turned my head only to gasp as the side of my neck flared up with pain. Sinking back into the mattress I tried pressing my hand against the throbbing area on to quickly remove it, hissing in pain. I glanced around, already able to figure out that I wasn't in my room. I always kept the curtains open so the sun could slip through the crack of the blinds. This room however, had the curtains drawn together enveloping the room in darkness.

Where am I?

An echo of footsteps could be heard beyond the closed door making me frown. It couldn't be Lake, he never made any noise, that's why he was perfect for sneaking up on everyone. Fear dripped down my spine like an ice cube sliding down your skin on a hot day.

Where was Lake?

My thoughts were interrupted by the door screeching open, the light from the hallway illuminating the room I was kept in. Blinking at the sudden brightness I squinted, finally able to look around. There was a bookcase standing across from the bed with a long wooden desk tucked in the corner. There was a clutter of papers and pens sitting on the desk; what seemed to be a matching chair was a foot away from the desk, as if the owner had kicked it away in a fit of rage.

What was above the desk, held my attention the most. Photographs were tacked to the wall with red string connecting them together, all leading back to a single photo in the middle. Crumpled up notes were in the mix along with what looked to be a map was taped to the side. Faintly, I could make out red x's on some of the pictures.

"Shit,"

Eyes widening, I forced myself out of the bed, momentarily swaying as black dots danced across my vision. How could I have been so stupid? Lake would have gutted me for not paying more attention. Never let someone you don't know out of your sight. That was the first thing he ever said to me. Well, the first helpful thing he ever said to me.

"Relax," he spoke, lifting his hands to his chest, his palms facing me. "I'm not going to hurt you. Lake sent me to check on you."

Frowning, I looked him over. He stood six feet with those thick soled boots of his on. His black shirt seemed like a second skin to him as his muscles flexed each time he moved. Despite having the door open it was still too dark to make out the rest of him.
