"Did you hear about the storm we're supposed to get?" Jon asked.
It was supposed to be a beautiful day. The weatherman predicted nothing but sun and shine for the past five days. Until today. This morning the weather forecast came in and it was showing major storm clouds.
11 am. Dark skies rolling in, thunder could be heard in the distance.
"We need some things from the store. Spence, come with?" Jon asked and Spencer nodded.
Ryan was biting his nails anxiously. He hated storms so much. Spencer and Jon peeled out of the driveway quickly determined to get to the grocery store and back as fast as possible.
Brendon pulled back the curtain and looked out the window. He saw lightening and he didn't have time to turn around quick enough to warn Ryan. Thunder echoed deeply and he saw Ryan jump.
Brendon walked over and pushed Ryan's hair back. "Hey, you okay?" He asked
Ryan nodded but he was shaking, looking down at the carpet and tapping his feet. "Cmon." He motioned Ryan toward the couch.
They sat with their legs criss crossed, Ryan biting his nails and Brendon playing with his curly locks. They could hear the rain starting to come down harshly on the windows. Ryan looked up when another clap of thunder stroke. His eyes grew ten sizes bigger when he saw the front door blow open from the wind.
Brendon looked at the door and then back to the fragile boy. "Shh I'll just be two seconds." His hand fell from Ryan's face as he jumped up off of the couch. Determined not to leave Ryan for too long he sprinted across the room and slammed the door shut, locking it this time.
He ran back to and slipped his arms around the other boys skinny waist and pulled him closer.
The lights flickered with another strike of lightening. Brendon kept whispering shushing noises in Ryan's ear. "W-where are Spencer and Jon at? Do y-you think they're okay." Ryan stuttered.
Brendon kissed the side of Ryan's head. "Of course they are."
Brendon's eyes were closed and they were both finally relaxed until he felt Ryan tense up again when he pointed to the tv. "Look Bren, a tornado warning!" He shrieked and covered his eyes.
Brendon sighed. "Hey, cmon." He motioned Ryan up and towards the bathroom. "We'll stay in here in case it gets worse." Brendon quickly ran to their bedroom and grabbed pillows and blankets.
"Cmon we'll make it fun," he said with a pouty face and then he saw a slight tug at Ryan's lips.
He laid down a blanket on the floor and placed a pillow behind his head. Ryan sat down and crawled up to Brendon.
There were no windows in the bathroom so the sound of rain was faint but the thunder still echoed. Brendon had started tracing patterns on what seemed to be like every piece of bare skin Ryan had.
Ryan didn't mind though. In a way it was calming.
The lights went out this time.
Ryan started to tense up again and Brendon pushed him up, motioning for him to move as he crawled over to the kitchen sink.
He grabbed the flashlight and handed it to Ryan.
"I'm gonna go get some candles. Okay, Ry?" He stood up and kissed Ryan's forehead.
The house had an eerie feeling as he searched for the candles. The wind was howling, the clouds were stirring and if Ryan wasn't on the verge of a panic attack in their bathroom he'd think it would be a pretty cool thing to watch.
He struck a match and lit a candle in the living room so when Spencer and Jon got back it'd be easier to see.
He walked back to the bathroom and struck up another match.
They resumed the earlier position although now Brendon was humming, focused on the candle illuminating the small room, the gentle flickers of the flame.
The storm was starting to pass and it was obvious they could both tell.
Ryan stretched his arms and legs as the both stood up and started to walk out of the bathroom.
He started blowing out most of the candles since they weren't needed as bad as before. The sun had started shining through the clouds in the sky.
They could see the storm moving east in the sky and it all looked so peaceful.
That was until a loud slam from outside made them both jump and turn around quickly.
"Damn it,"
Jon.
Ryan smiled. He could see Spencer laughing at Jon from the window.
Everybody was okay and Ryan felt at ease again. Brendon's hand wandered down to Ryan's and they laced their fingers.
"Oh my god!" Spencer bust in laughing "Tell me somebody just saw Jon get smacked in the face by a tree branch."
FIN.
