When I was younger I always twiddled my thumbs when I was nervous or excited. Now I'm older, and I'm still twiddling my thumbs. My mum thinks it's quite an odd way to show your feelings, but I personally think that lots of people do it. There's things that are weirder, like biting your nails for example, it's also very gross. Do you know how many germs there is? I don't bite my nails, and I'm perfectly fine with twiddling my thumbs.
I'm Harry, I turned seventeen last February, and I think I'm a very positive person. I'm participating in the X Factor this year. That is my inner monologue, I have a tendency to get caught up in my own thoughts, people think I'm stupid, but they don't realize that it's just because I really think about the conversations they have.
I turn to the mirror on the wall and look at myself. Curly brown hair, green eyes and light skin. That's the simple way to define me. That's what other people see. I don't let them see my dimples, or the way my eyes sparkle when I laugh. That's only my mum, and my sister Gemma who sees that side of me. I'm wearing a purple sweatshirt, black skinny jeans and white Converse.
"Harry!" my mum yells from downstairs. "The cab is here."
"Coming mum," I yell back as I run down the stairs. We live in a townhouse out in Camden. We moved to London two years ago, but I already know the area like the back of my hand. I reach the front door, and sees Niall waiting there. He is a tall, blonde Irish guy, and he is my best friend. People sometimes pick at him, because of his accent, but I just find it endearing.
"Hey Harry," his thick Irish accent fills the room. He smiles widely at me. "Ready to blow 'em all away?"
"Yeah, but I don't think I've ever been so nervous," I say and smile at him. He's one of my closest friends, and has been ever I moved here. We actually played in a band together for about a year. I was lead singer, and Naill played the guitar. Niall has always been one of the most supportive people in my life. He compliments me, and give me a straight answer, when that's what I want.
"Don't be, buddy. You'll be just fine," Niall gives me a high five, and then turns to the door. His blonde hair falls into his eyes. "You got an amazing voice."
"Thank you, Niall." I smile thankfully at him.
"You\re welcome," I really do believe what he's saying, I have a hard time trusting people, but with Niall it's different. It's like we have a deeper level of understanding. He's almost like a brother to me.
"Mum!" I shout. "We're ready."

As the cap is driving an interview on the radio begins. It's an interview with one of the judges from X Factor.
"Good morning London. Today I'm with the award winning, bachelor Louis Tomlinson!" the host says, almost screaming his name. I listen more carefully. I find him very annoying, but writes great songs. He is a judge on X Factor this year, so I will have to face him later. I'm sure he'll be a jerk to me,
"Hello there," he says with a smile in voice.
"So today's the first day of auditions, are you excited?" the host asks, and Louis chuckles.
"Very much," Louis replies, "I think it's an amazing opportunity to sit behind the judges table, and watch all those people, doing what they love and express themselves."
He sound so fake. Almost like he's reading it from a notecard. His voice i monotone, and he doesn't sound like he want to be there.
"Will there be someone special there for support?" the host asks, pushing for an answer.
"Nah, I'm just enjoying the single life," he is annoyed, there's a slight undertone of it in his voice, but he is good at hiding it. I have just trained my ears to hear something like that.
"Thank you so much Louis, " the host says, "Now it's time to hear Louis newest single 'Strong'."
It's a good song, very well written. It's a love song, but it's not too much. The chorus is amazing. He sounds amazing, and his voice is raspy yet soft. He is a jerk, but boy he can sing.
I'm sorry if I say, "I need you"
But I don't care,
I'm not scared of love
'Cause when I'm not with you I'm weaker
Is that so wrong?
Is it so wrong
That you make me strong? The cab stopped. "We're here now."
I get out and stare at the awfully long line in front of the building. This would take a while We get into the line, in front of us was a girl with black hair and a guitar case, and after a few minutes an older woman is behind us. I start twiddling my thumbs in an attempt to calm myself down, but I know it's not going to help. I'm nervous, I have sung in front of my mum, and at a few gigs with the band, but never even close to as many as today.
An hour had went by, I chatted with my mum, Gemma and Naill, and suddenly we were at the front. A woman smiled kindly at Gemma.
"Hello, you auditioning?" she asks Gemma. Gemma takes my arm and pushes me foreword. The woman smiles at me."Sorry dear, what is your name?"
"I'm Harry Styles,"
